Did the safety meeting bit on Saturday. Usual stuff "We are great everyone else sucks the anus of a three legged donkey." Tim told a few stories about how a new customer loves us and how they now hate Quality Carriers and the way they play fast and lose with the wash tickets. He expects our percentage of loads to go through the roof. Another great story about students from Virgina Tech studing how our shop maintains trailers and again how great we are. Considering we have some trailers that are older than me but still run straight and look good I guess the wrench ought to be allowed to wave their flag a bit. Discussed how the new E logs are great and how we will all love them. Did some refresher work on hazmat stuff and that was also great. Ottumwa is great so is Waterloo and Washington. Blue Grass...well they're great too in their own way. Breakfast was great as well...just great.

pin

pin or 3/8th X 2" bolt that connects the u-joint yoke to the pto shaft.

its a soft bolt or really its supposed to be a ???? memory search for term...lol

(charades)

hollow pin... that you drive thru the hole... its a built in weak link....

oooohhhhhh... a "shear pin"

so if you dump the clutch out you won't rip the pto drive shaft or u joints out... ya just break the shear pin...

you should have a spare in case or else 3/8x2 nut and bolt so your 50 cent uh-oh doesn't cost you several hours of headaches...

no really, english is my first language, I swear...

btw

they always seem to snap under the truck in front of the duals... would be nicer if it popped at the back where you could work on it a bit easier.

lesson over... 10-4

$15 stop pay ????

ok, so I am doing the company justice and bragging at the pilot I love my life and I get 15 load or unload pay.

well... plus 10 for the chem suit... so that's $25.

without blinking guy says I get 15 stop pay also that ain't nothing good...

really??? I'm sorta stunned cuz... well we aren't the only guys getting paid fair but frankly most box dudes are getting screwed...

talk talk talk.... oHHHHHH!!! hold it!!!! back up pardner!!!

this guy gets his "stop pay" not including the initail load and last unload...

meaning multiple stops he gets paid for the middle one.

Seems I remember this ?not including first and last" crap from when I worked at transport America...

no no no... this is gless... I load my trailer, drive where ever and unload it, that is two stops and two pays.

I haven't done the 5 compartment trailer thingy we have... but that guy, loads his trailer, goes to 3 customers and he gets four (4) stop pays.

I wouldn't freak out here on the finer points... but I'm spanking down another 5k a year because of how gless pays "stop pay" on top of the good mileage pay. when yeah say it like that... yeah it really is a big deal !!!

seen ya

ohhh btw,

did 3100 miles last week and 2600 this week... would have been better this week but tuesday I only did an iowa city and scooted home at noon.

not sure next week will be real killer, maybe?? gotta get the oil changed monday afternoon and my computer fixed, lack of keyboard makes it hard to anything... but then again it'll be my weekend to work... and that can pay pretty good if you get a couple of short sunday runs.

taxes

ok... this part of gless actually does suck...

My girl was 18 this year, no tax help there...

gless paid me so much the government actually took their money and kept it !!! BASTIGES!!!

actually that might be a U.S. government suck and not a gless suck at all...

but still I paid in a crap load and was thinking 5k back...

nope, $1900 back state and federal combined...

I went to an accountant and he just shrugged???

"if you made 15k less I coulda got you back $3400.

yeah... I'll keep that in mind for next year doc...
