Detention pay

I think their detention policy sucks. No detention pay for someone that arrives on time and needs a 10hr break. At least that is what I was told. Theoretically you can take a 10hr break at any shipper or receiver. That means no detention until 12hrs?

I'm confused(Which is nothing new) are you arriving on time then having a customer take ten hours to unload you? Are you getting there then taking your regular break then getting unloaded? Flesh out you story a bit please.

I drove all day for 9-10hrs and arrived at the customer on time. I was told their tank was full and I wasn't getting unloaded until the next day. 13 hours later the next day I was empty and it paid me 1 hour of detention pay. Doesn't seem fair to me.

Yeah that seems messed up to me as well. I guess it comes down to the terminal manager. In Ottumwa Darrell wouldn't allow that to go down. I'd get paid and probably get a hotel room as well if I wanted. I once had to go two hours to deliver a load. I got there and was told it would be a three hour wait. Darrell said bring it back and someone else can take it up later.

I guess it doesn't matter. I quit. I'm taking the truck back right now. Too many low paychecks. $370 this week. Its partially the customer and part Foodliner. I have to do whats best for my family.

I hate any company where I have to beg or fight for what was owed to me. It was just another nail in the coffin for me when they jerked me around on my pay. If I had consistent checks and didn't get jacked on my pay I probably would have stayed. I got a letter in the mail after I quit and they wanted me to answer why I quit. I don't know if it did any good but I was very detailed as to how I wasn't getting paid. To be fair this was probably the easiest job I have ever had. The pay was decent when I was working. The benefits were ok too. I just can't pay my bills on $370 a week gross. Just can't do it sorry. Had to move on. Oh well. This company may be significantly better at some other location but my situation where I was on a dedicated acct I was stuck. Kraft was the only customer and they were extremely finicky. They would cancel runs at the last minute and things like that and Foodliner couldn't make up the difference with extra work.

Now I am a postal contractor. I make $1265 a week gross. I have no health insurance, but even if I had to buy it I'd still be ahead. I'm doing great.

Same problem for me. Barbara was my dispatcher and she was a moron as well. I think competent people that knew how to keep me working would have made life at Foodliner so much better.
