The Truth About Gordon

Gordon is no different then any other trucking co... They push there drivers to the last minute of there log book .. Gordon driver managers think very little of there drivers and try to get them to violate that little log book as much as every other trucking company out there!!! What happens is that they will push you in till you get those company violations and then you will get that message from the old safety department!! The safety department will give you a little talking to about your log book and tell ya not except the load if you can't make the load there on time and not to cheat on that little log book anymore!! Then comes the little circus of D.M.'s if you don't falsify that little book of yours the operations department will book your loads so tight that you wont make your load on time unless you screw around with your little book!! O.k. then if you do get more violations they bring you in one of those log book re-education classes!! (OR)
If your me you start logging you log b<IMG alt=0 border=0>ook legal and log everything as you do it and see what reaction you get from that operations department ! (This means )
1.When your at P&G and your in one of there notorious lines five trucks in front of you and your waiting in line and you still have to drop and hook!! You would log that time and the time it took you to drop and hook on your on duty line!!! (that goes for allot of there shippers.
2. When driving down I 5 run 55 miles an hour (the speed limit) and then when you get to Los Angeles area and you drop and hook in East L.A and drop the load you picked up in fontanna log all the time including the traffic!
3. When picking up that set of doubles in salt lake, ( yeah the rusty ones). Now if it only took you 15 or 30 minutes to drop your mt trailers and re-hook to the loaded one's yes breaking them apart and putting them together sighing the paper work and doing your computer work that's a false log! Try logging the real amount of time it took you to do all that work!
4. When they send you those q.c. while your driving and your required to stop within one hour and you have to pre-plan out your next trip log that time and pre- plan trip city/state.....
5. The time it takes you to call breakdown and get your truck checked into a shop log all that time on on duty!!!
Try and do some of those things that the law requires you to log and see the reaction you get from that old safe company Gordon trucking ...The Gordon trailers when I worked there most of the old one's were falling apart at the cross members in the front Right above the the tires and the frame of the trucks ,,,,,yes I know Gordon told you not to right them up in orientation but if one falls off and you need to call otr they will say stupidly what did you hit and call that old safety department and tell them you were not doing you pre-trip!! So I recommend just taking a pics of there messed up trailers if you come across them and email to your PC and there PC........see the reaction you get out of good old Gordon trucking co....I have pics and tape's yeah there real safe alright!

Smile Must Be Two Gordons

I drive for GTI and I always have plenty of time to get where I need to be. My driver manager has been great giving me plenty of miles and getting me home when I need to be there. My truck is one of the older ones, but it is well maintained and runs great. So far it has been a good choice for me. I have met plenty of drivers who have been with the company for over 10 years and several over 20! That says alot in my book.

Sounds like you had a poor experience with Gordon. However I don’t believe this is the norm at GTI. I’ve been there a few years and so far it’s going well.

Hello ocdgeek,

I'm graduating training in mid-November. Gordon is the company I want to hire out with. I've had no moving violations in well over 10 years and absolutely no DUI's/drugs, etc. However, I was involved in two minor vehicle accidents within the past year. One of them was my fault (I backed into a car). The other, a crazy lady ran out between traffic and I had no reaction to avoid hitting her.

Neither incident shows on the court copy of my MVR. In your opinion, how will these affect my chances? I believe Gordon would be a great fit for me and I hope my chances are good.

Thanks, in advance, for your $.02's worth.

If it is not on your dmv record they won't know. Make sure you get a copy of your current record so you know what is there.

I agree, no record no proof. Just make sure what the record dose say.

as for as Operations vs Safety is concerned. Thats a battle thats has been going on for yrs at every company. I look at it this way. If some thing happens, who's butt is on the line? YOURS!!! When something happens. Your fault or not. It's your log book that they will compare to the ECM on the truck. And the Quallcomm. And your cell phone records. When they find out that you have been running illegally. The company will cut you lose and you will end up in prison. For what? Cause some fat head DM who can't find his ### with both hands is giving you a hard time because you can't del a load that you never should have been given in the fist place.

This is what I do. When they give me a Pre-plan. I look up how many miles it really is. Then I divide that by the numbers of days they have given me. If it comes up to 500 a day, then all is good. If not then I tell them when I can be there. They can either live with that or take if off me.

Any drive should be able to do 500 a day any where. Providing you have the hours to begin with. Allot of days I do 600-650. Not that hard to do if you keep that left door closed and that right foot down.

that's not always the case. I recently had a friend sent home from orientation at Werner because she didn't list an accident that wasn't on her MVR. when they were verifying a past employer they asked about any accidents and that was that. she explained to them the circumstances of the accident and thought, since her previous employer considered it non-preventable and no mention of it appears on her MVR, that it wasn't necessary to include it on her app. they told her she lied and home she went.

it may not come up but if it does, and you're 1000 miles from home, it'd really suck to get booted from orientation.

of course, GTI says they do a complete background check, less criminal, before inviting you to orientation. so, if you get the call, all should be right.

we get paid every week. I you go with it on comdata card its fri morning, if you go dir deposit, for what ever stupid reason then its the next monday. i.e. fri 18th, comdata, 21s mon, dir deposit. As for taking the trk home, not a issue, but most of the time your hooked to a trl so unless you got a big enough yard to park both, you will be looking for something local that you can park it. I have yet to not be able to take trk home. as for the first post on here, I have not had any issues eiter and I run team, but ran solo first while team mate was with trainer. You must be just from the way your post goes one of those that wants to dictate what loads yu take and where you go, then your asking for them to get rid of you and then the dm's do things like that to get rid of you. anyway, hope that helps.

I'm hoping to get on with gordon soon. I'm living in Fl. right now but moving to Phoenix in a week or so to live with my daughter. It is impossible to get work here in Fl.! They seem to be a good company but i'm a newbie and can't be choosy. I'm just glad to get work. I wont really know until next week though. I'm waiting on the recuiter to send my pre-hire papers. Didn't want to make the move if they won't hire me.
