Well a recruiter from JBS called me a few weeks back saying they are not taking any more people that just got their CDL recently. She said they were all booked up for the trainers. She told me that i should go with a company (stevens Transport) and get my year in then call back. That was a few weeks ago. Since then i got accepted to go with stevens but i have not signed anything or commited. come monday i was suppose to call them and then they would issue me a greyhound ticket to go from philadelphia to dallas, texas.
Well wouldn't ya know that i just got a call today from another recruiter and now they are hiring recent grads. ( i also did 2 months of otr with my company). My present company said there was no driver positions open so they stuck me with a yard jockey position. I found out later that there was open positions but they just needed a jockey real bad and i was a newbie. Well i gave my 2 week notice a week ago and now that jbs is hiring i am thinking of going with them instead of stevens.
Stevens pays .26/mile while JBS will start me at .30/mile after the training. Both companies are refrigerated carriers. Same amount of miles it seems and same amount of frustration it seems lol. I guess all companies have the ups and downs. Give me some feed back please. yes i read all 605 pages of this thread along with the other thread that was ended. I did get a chance to talk to a few of the trainers and drivers out there from both companies and JBS did impress me more and you guys were not afraid to tell the truth. -

Go to a co. close to home because after they screw you out of money you'll have to pay your own way home.

I am starting driver orientation with James H clark trucking in salt lake city Utah. Has anyone heard any good information about this company? I will make .29 a mile....... 23 of that is taxed and .06 is considered per dium... also trucks have apu's and governed at 65 but will do 68 mph
reefer... running 11 western
Don't listen to goldnugget he has 30 years experience and works for a company paying .29cpm. R u kidding me. JBS does pay your way home. Or at least all the guys who I have driven to a hotel when fired or quit.
Rechecked and that guy was a student making 29 cpm.Last edited: Apr 13, 2012
