I don't know about the union thing but I would think not. My Uncle drives for them. He has 42 years driving. He loves it. Makes boocoo bucks and has regular schedule and it is all drop and hook. I hope that it doesn't change before I can get my experience level up to their requirements. I want to drive there too.

Wal Mart seems like a great place, at least for the truck driver position. I actually read Sam Walton's book and he says he has the greatest truck drivers in the world. Seems like after he died, the company turned over to the greedy kids...He even says in his book, several times, that he hopes when he's gone WM gets run the way he ran it...

OK, enough about that. I got sidetracked. Anyhow, my post was simply meant to say that Wal Mart seems impossible to get on for. I would not mind working there myself, as I always hear the drivers are treated very well and paid very well, too.

i just spoke with the folks today at walmart in littleton nh. according to them 65-70k per year. must have 250k miles exp. must have 3 years t/t experience. 50k per year in last 3. no preventable accidents in last 3. no fatalities ever. no preventable "dot recordable" accidents in last 10. no more than 1 non preventable in last 3. no more than 2 minor moving violations personal or cmv in last 3. no serious violations in personal or cmv in last 3. class a with hazmat required. 1-800-803-7348 for driver apps. they were friendly even though i haven't started training yet. I start training at nti in scarborough maine monday. oh they also boast turnover less than 5% and are not required to load or unload but may have to piece count either. i hope this isn't breaking the rules just providing what someone asked for---lockednloaded

Did they say how far you can live from the DC to work for them?

I wonder if you lived a couple hundred miles away if you could take your home time and park the truck at a Wal mart.

    Any body know?

My nephew's father-in-law has a buddy who gets called from Schneider?(IIRC) about power only gigs for Walmart. He said they wanted to run the p**s out of him.

I love the people that whine about the stor employees not being paid as well as the drivers. I can go into any Wal Mart store and use the self check out lines. The cashiers of today don't exactly have a hard job. You might in fact call it a dime a dozen job. Drivers tend to be harder to find and must possess some skill. It is not unreasonable for me to be paid more for my labor than a cashier. It is also not unreasonable for a brain surgeon to be paid more than me for his work either. To argue otherwise sounds...I don't know ...communist?
