Hey Guys! I just got sent home second week from TMC Transportation yesterday for not being able to shift properly according to instructor "Tap Tap." He told me to shift in an intersection, which is illegal in the state of Texas. He also wanted me to constantly upshift and downshift through the gears but I told him, "Why should I upshift if the speed limit is 35 mph and I'm already hitting 7 high." Not to forget to mention a vehicle was in front of me about 100 feet so upshifting would have caused us to get in an accident. I would have killed the occupants and had my CDL taken away and Mr. "Tip Tappy" would have only had a small slap on the wrist. He got angry towards me and stated, " Any monkey can drive a truck down the highway!" He also had the nerve to tell both I and the other trainee in the cab," Getting your CDL is quite an accomplishment. You can find a lot of companies out there guys." Be careful when driving with the trainers for TMC. Many of the trainers have caused trainees to get in huge wrecks and have they're CDL revoked. Needless to say I'm happy to be back home and out of the TMC mess. Out of a class of 75 people only 20 people made it to the second week. According to the previous class only 2 people will actually make it through the 7 weeks of training. A company that burns out that many drivers isn't worth the sweat off my monkey back!!!

Forget I said anything....you don't have to be a dick! -
Ha ha ha, I had Tappity tap tap too. He's stresses you out with his constant chatter. I am glad not to be flat beddin anymore. Too much B.S. work. They had my switching trailers 4-5 times a week before I left. Bye bye TMC. -
Yea, thank goodness I'm not with TMC anymore. In training I was afraid they have sensors in the seat of the Peterbilt trucks that sense when you pass gas. If you pass gas to many times they let you go out the door! ha ha
Word of advice to all you flatbed drivers out there ( the best thing I learned in my two weeks with TMC). Make sure to double tarp your load before letting a lot lizzard get to your pipe! -
strnspeed and southernbamaboy Thank this.

Research the blog post going all the way back to 06. I didn't think so myself up until I had experienced it first hand in training. My wife and I got in a fight over me leaving for TMC. She read all the posts and I didn't believe it but now I know better.

Flyer Thanks this.

I've met some bad trainers with TMC. Mine was the worste, when i started training i made it a point to be patient with people and explain to them how to do things properly, instead of yelling and making them nervous.
I fail to see how a trainer could cause someone to get into a wreck, maybe i'm just nieve but this is the first i've heard of anything like that. Once you're out on your own, it's your baby and you are responsible for your actions.
I don't know of any trainer that would risk his own life asking a trainee to do anything dangerous while he's in the jump-seat, either. Nor have i ever heard of a wreck bad enough to have someones 'CDL Revoked'.
All but one of my trainee's is still with TMC, and that guy had a crappy attitude that thought everyone owed him something. The rest are still with the company, and haven't had an incodent yet. That's a pretty ignorant statement to make to be perfectly honest with you. Sorry. -
I think he meant the orientation behind the wheel trainers. I had tap tap, he's a retired union guy so we had some common ground to talk about and we got along well. My actual trainer for the five weeks after orientation was great, even though I'm not with TMC anymore we still talk a couple times a week.

Sorry eckz for not explaining myself clearly. I did mean the trainers in orientation. I think "Tap Tap" just had a personal vendetta out for me. He also was the one who told me about one of the other orientation trainers having multiple accidents with his students. Not very professional.
