hello all just wanted to say hey im a newbie just starting out was wondering whats a good company that does heavy haul to get into

Towers were slow for a while. Looks like it's picking up again though. Supposed to go to tulsa to load. Gotta hurry so i can get stuck in the mud in iowa. Oh boy, i kin hardly wait.

I loved doing heavy haul, still love oversize/weight loads, I don't do giant stuff anymore due to the company I work for won't get me an RGN, i have a customer base for it, cranes,excavators,dozers ect...the boss is Leary of the issues you can get into with them..hey at least I still get to haul mostly machinery...

Hey everyone just found this group and decided to join. I haul large equipment. Anything from excavators to rock trucks. My heaviest load was 173,000 lbs and widest was 18 feet.

I hope this group can grow alot larger.


As for escorts we have a good company up here in the Yukon that we use exclusivley and there isn't a bad driver in the mix. I found my worst one on a trip last week out of Vancouver.

It works for me. You have to start sometime and someplace...

Hi Guys Im Not In Heavy Haul But Im Like To So Soon

I have been running large boats. Now that is about gone. One thing I have learned is that the fiberglass doesn't stand up to much of anything. Including Bridges, other wide loads, trucks backing into the boats and that kind of stuff. I have had to go and pick up the damaged units and return them to the plant that they came out of.

I have found out that being your eyes is sometimes the hard thing to do for a driver. Some guys want all kinds of information and others want next to nothing. Like when I hit a bridge or things like that. Then there those who want to know about the cows in the field.. I know that you have met those kind. Normaly in a couple hour you know what the driver wants and needs in information. I ran one trip from Florida to the west coast and the driver and I only talked about the road about 30 times . the rest of the time he just followed me as I looked for the high part of the route.

Sometimes the worst escorts are the ones that have been out here the longest, trying to tell the driver how to drive his truck.
Best ecorts are sometimes the new ones that you can 'train' on what you want them to do.

So what kind of stuff are you hauling at the moment?
I know that you find bad and worse escorts and sometimes very good escorts.
So where did you find your worst escort?
And where did you find your best escort?

...Well, don't pilot cars go along with heavy haul?

I do not see any reason why escorts would be ignored. I've got some good friends that escort.

So how about a pilot car driver in the group? I spent 35 years on the road. My last job before getting hurt was heavy haul.
