Taking a guess you guys with a 24-26 foot well have a lot of deadhead between loads.
How much?

Not that much if you are willing to haul for flatbed rates. It depends on alot of things but for the sake of a number call it 30%.
However, in the spring and summer when equipment is moving, there is really no need to load flatbed freight for flatbed rates. They will often pay you to go back empty and pick up another. So then you will have 30%-50% DH but it's paid so is it really DH? -
rank Thanks this.

I had a fixed 3 axle stretch that went from 23 to 40 in the well always a load that needed 41. Crazy to have a trailer that can't handle at least 29 if you are running everywhere..short wells are ok for most construction equipment

30% "empty" is pretty close, But like Rank said if it's paid is it DH?, I call it re-position pay. If shipper wants a multi axle stretch he pays to get it there, if going into crap area factor it into load rate to get out.
