Just passed my hazmat & doubles/triples endorsement. Looking to get a twic card also. Has anyone ever needed to apply for a waiver or appeal. I have felony on my record that I know would disqualify me. Just wondering how it works and if anyone was successful in doing so before I apply. If it's a slim chance of the waiver getting approved I don't want to waste my money.

    Thanks in advance,
    Travis

If you got approved for hazmat I think you will be ok for a twic. Dont quote me on that, I'm sure others that know will chime in eventually.

    Good luck with your career

Thanks. I only took the endorsement test. I did not go get finger printed yet. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

I believe the hazmat fingerprint will be cheaper to find out if you are approved for hazmat. I did mine the other way around. Got a TWIC card first 129.75. Applied for the hazmat, was told that since I already hold a TWIC card I do not have to take my fingerprints. Pay a reduced fee of 67 instead of 89. Within 2weeks I relieved a letter from TSA that I am cleared.

Sorry, that doesn't answer the original question

It depends on the felony and how long since conviction as to whether you can get the TWIC or hazmat endorsements. Both do the same background checks. Go to the TSA website and you should find out whether you can qualify or not. There is also a telephone number on the website you can call and ask questions.

I recall applying for my TWIC. I recall that a felony conviction would have disqualified me. Sorry, I don't know what's involved with a waiver. I was under the impression that none are granted. I would heed G/Man's advice. Best of luck to you.
