Just thought i'd start a thread like this... seem's like theres quite a few peeps here regularly in the intermodal section.
What company do you work for and how do you like it? Any bad or good stuff about them? (i guess this can be our mini version of rate a carrier!! LOL).

Here's the problem Kid;
You see, the intermodal drivers make so much money working for companies that treat them so well that they are not gonna' respond to your questions.
We don wan no stinkin competition...JJKid Thanks this. -
that's some f up $#it... lol

I'll spill the beans about Heir Schneider if some one will return the favor with DeBoer.
What to say about pumpkin...Well The pay is decent, not great but a lot depends on what times of day you are gonna be driving. The pay structure for company drivers to start is like this
Regional .42 CPM, extra 35 bucks on a short haul(100 miles or less), 20 dollars upfront on a live load/unload and 15 an hour after 2.
Local: 35 Per load regardless of distance and an extra 5 bucks for 100 loaded miles and an extra 5 for every 50 loaded miles after. Live load pay is the same, and you get .33 CPM on top of that.
Night shift earns more, billy big riggers on Xtowns will make 800-1200 a week pulling 4 nights, regular local 900-1000 a week nights 700-900 per week days. Regional 900-1100 a week depending on what team you end up on and weather or not the rails are boned. Chanel team is awesome if you want to run regional its the easiest #### job you will ever have.
The bad is that the Chicago office is disorganized as hell, they are trying their ##### off to catch up to jb hunt but they don't have the infrastructure in place to really compete with them. They will stick you in the biggest pile of #### day cab you ever ever seen when you start on local, regional trucks are a toss up. On top of that all of Schneider's new trucks are running DT12at transmissions so if you prefer to grind gears you're #### out of luck. That being said the DT12AT is actually pretty good as far as auto's go and you can shift it manually if you prefer.
I'm seeing Job ads for Deboer IM saying hourly pay, and 40-50 hours per week. Any one got any info about this? -
Anyone pay detention at the rail??? ...I know CN pays it to their Owner/Ops...and they all seem to drive newer shiny trucks....

I always thought that the Schneider intermodal guys were doing pretty well; at least that's what I assumed.
Spoke to a buddy of mine a while back, he said up in the Worcester, Massachusetts yard he's getting .35 CPM plus 20 bucks a load. Averages about $1100.00 bucks a week. After taxes and bennies, he takes home about $850.00 a week.
Man, that's not much to live on for such an expensive area. I figure he has to work 2 weeks just to make his rent. Add a car payment and utilities and food (for a wife and kid) and things look downright bleak. -

JB used to be hourly then they found too many guys sleeping in the back corners of the rail ramps. I don't know what the local pay structure is for Local but they ain't hurting pay-wise.
bbechtel16 Thanks this.
