I am a O/O leased on to a company in NJ. I'm getting tired of sitting in the piers for hours and at the mercy of the pier workers with their attitudes that we are a piece of dirt. They need to realize that without us the boxes don't move, if the boxes don't move then the ships don't come in, hence they don't work.

So why do we put up with their crap? Tired of hearing from the workers, "I can't help you he's in a different union" or "he's a union delegate and no one tells him what to do" Don't get me wrong I make good money doing this work but think about your down time and how many more loads you can do, heck less aggravation.

Now with the EOBR looking like it will be put in all the trucks in the near future I would like to know if they are going to have overnight parking for us so when we run out of hours will we be able to take our 10 hour reset. NOT, can't even get a bathroom. OR will they move their ##### and get us in and out????

We ALL need to start thinking about this especially with the new super freighters that hold 20,000+ containers on one ship coming in soon, they can't handle the loads now hell imagine when these ships start rolling in.

We need to get organized and do a slow down or just stop running for a day or two. It would cripple them. I spoke to several drivers and they say "well then I don't get paid" um do you get paid for sitting 8 hours waiting???? OR paid by the run. Imagine if we could get in and out in 2 hours or less, it can be done, it has been done. Wouldn't we all make more money??? Okay maybe not you company drivers who get paid by the hour, but there are a lot more O/O in the piers

    GUYS WAKE UP

Those new super freighters will be diverted to the Southeast and Texas ports. Those ports are dredging and expanding at this very moment preparing for this.
The only way to fight the unions in the Northeast and West Coast ports is to quit hauling containers. The ball is in your court, intermodal truckers. Are you going to continue to let the unions control your income? Do you really want some port union dirt bag having that much control over you; they hate you and don't respect you because they know you won't fight back.

What I mean by "you" is intermodal drivers collectively.

Been tried Challenger, was tried hard in the 80's here in Houston and tried again in a few companies later on.......

Won't work because of no solidarity among drivers. They always fold either under threat of financial pressure or termination and run back......

You are right tho, 3 to 5 days at the right time and the ports are done just like for fresh food. Reefer guys walk together , empty the store shelves in 3 days and teak off the consumer...
    Gas haulers walk out....same thing.

If just about any group were to walk out and stay out it would cause pain.....but they all have to go and all have to stay out.....take about a week......

As with any STRIKE that's ever been tried or actually carried out in trucking there will always be some that will still try and scoop up the work at the expense of others

That helps. When I drove for Midwestern Distribution, my first driving job, the company put Teamsters decals on trailers that were used for automotive parts shipments. It worked, we were treated well and the trailers weren't damaged at the UAW plants. Before they put the decals on, the tires were being slashed, doors damaged, holes knocked in the side of trailers, and air lines cut.
Bunch of scumbags treating other American workers like that.
