Hi all,Hs anybody ever had a cummins m11 engine that when you shut it down it knocks and shakes. Seems like it wants to stay on. Or go back wards. Or is this just normal for this type of engine, Thanks

First thing to do is replace the shut down solenoid and valve. There is a shut off valve that is spring loaded. The solenoid pulls the valve open by magnetic field. When you shut the key off power is taken away and the spring pushes the valve back on its seat and cuts off fuel to the engine. After a few years the valve can get gummed up, or the spring weak/breaks. Either way it doesn't cut off the fuel properly and that is why the engine kinda runs on.
