Had a complaint today for a check engine light coming on. Plugged in and code said "engine throttle control actuator 1 data invalid".
Anyone seen this before? First thought was TPS, but my IQ normally says TPS if it is the problem. It's a 2006 max force truck with the dt466. Don't want to start throwing parts at it on a hunch.
Dt466 engine code

Also. The owner says it seems to run fine and the throttle is not cutting out or derating.

Your code description sounds like the intake throttle valve or engine throttle valve. The valve, actuator and position sensor are all one piece. You will get a code like this when the ECM commands the valve to a certain position, but detects no movement or wrong position. These valves do have tendency to seize up. It is mounted to the intake manifold near the head, usually has three bolts. You will see where the harness plugs into it. You should be able to pull off the intake pipe from the air to air to inspect the valve. You should be able to move the valve with your fingers, it will be stiff, but smooth. Push the valve to full close and it should return to full open by spring force.

Cool, glad to help out! This is a common problem for our local municipality trucks, like snow plows, that sit around a lot.
