Interfacing trucks CAN

Hello all,

I'm new to that forum and I hope I'm right here to post that question. If not, please point me to the right place.

I'm investigating creating an electronic device that brings some difficulties to truck or trailer thieves.

Our customer has the idea to first detect a truck robbery of some kind, once detected the device should watch about
movement of the truck and on a good moment (gear in neutral etc.) block the throttle and make it impossible to further
move the truck.

My idea is getting informations on truck and engine behavior from the trucks CAN.
Since I'm really fresh to CAN codes and signals there I need some help.

From electronic part I've no problem to interface the CAN, I built already a listen-only CAN2PC device.

Where I need help with is, what codes and informations are useful to get what I need.
Other question is, how do I realize to cut or block the throttle signal. Or what else is a good
and intelligent way to stop the truck moving.
Most inteligent for me seams using the CAN itself to do so, instead of interrupting cables physically and
create other faults.



Hope to get some ideas or help from you guys.

Ask this in the general garage section. Personally I have never seen or heard of this technology, but maybe someone else has.
