I have been getting raw exaust fumes in my cab when driving. Also when I am sitting idle .
This truck has been to a dealer for this problem, but the problem still exsist.
From time to time when I am driving there is a rush of fumes into the cab.
When I am idling I get them when I turn on the front hvac system through the vents.
Not so much on the sleeper hvac.
Any suggestion's on what's causing this , any known problems with this model?

first off, GET A CARBON MONOXIDE ALARM ASAP. you want to know it it happens while your asleep. That being said, do you have a grass burner or stacks. Check near the intake for your air system and look for any leaks. im a fl guy, but my truck pulls air form in engine compartment. If there was a majot leek int here it would flow right into cab

What about running the recirculate to where only the cab air gets cooled off and then the fumes would be less or none.

this truck has no stack . the muffler is under the sleeper . the smells are mainly coming through when hvac is running . As for the detector , I work for pam . i can't afford a detector .

I think the only way to do that is to keep the switch on ac . when you change it to fan to use the heater im told by another trucker i spoke to today that it opens an fresh air intake in the engine compartment , which would explain the fumes im getting when using the heater .

The exhaust bellows pipes between the EGR valve and exhaust manifold tend to leak. The exhaust manifold itself likes to leak at #5 and #6 exhaust port, or the slip connection between the center and rear manifold sections. The braided flex section can also leak in the main exhaust pipe right after the engine. Leaks will produce carbon staining in the area. Try a different dealer.

The braided flex pipe behind the turbo just as it goes under the passenger side of the cab leaked twice on my ProStar...
Like HeavyD stated look for dark stains in that area.
That area is directly below the fresh air intake of the front AC system.

Sure will and if you have a leak it will stink you out of the cab!

I got buy tightening the clamps on the flex pipe the first time then had it replaced about a year later.
Running the AC on recirculate helps but any exhaust leak is not a good thing.
