Hello I bought my 2005 4300 dt 466 in may of 2012. Since then I have put close to fifty thousand in to it and still having problems, please help. May 12th replaced fan drive was not engaging at 210 degrees, replaced power steering pump wheel was whining turning both ways. In July I started having major power issues. Brought it to my local shop they ran all kinds of tests but found no issues and charged me 3,000 dollars. Power problems presisted so in October to it to a new shop, they came back and told me injectors and turbo needed to be replaced. So all new injectors and turbo and was still having power issues. At this point I decided I was just going to drive it as is stop spending money needles to say that did not happen. From the time I bought the truck I had lost 20 pounds of oil pressure and the truck had bad blow bye and was burning 4 liters of oil every 3 weeks so I decided to do a inframe in January. After the inframe the service manager at my local international shop told me my truck should run like new with the inframe and new injectors and turbo. One day after the inframe was done my truck strated to make a growling sound while acclerating and it sounded like it was coming from behind me, so I took it back to international for a test drive and they said they could not here the sound. Over the next week sound got worse soI tried a diffrent shop they said catalytic converter was cracked so replaced that but sound was still there. So next I checked my rear diff and transmission and foud the tranny fluid burnt so I replaced the transmission a week ago and the sound is still there. Now I know the sound is coming from the engine. The sound is only there under acceleration directly related to the engine revs as the rpm goes up the sound gets louder and faster as slow down sound gets softer and slower. Turned off truck at hiway speeds to elminate any tire issues. Very slight shake in engine between 1700 and 2000 rpm. Sound not evident at idle. Please help if you can trying to save money .please let me know if you need more info thank you

I know it sounds weird, but have you checked your ride hgt? That can cause noise and some vibrations

Yes have been having problems with my ride height just fixed on thursday and the noise still there. Took it for a test drive with the shop forman he suspected something mabey with the exhaust. So brought it to my yard plugged the exhaust got a hose and listend for leaks through the whole system and found nothing. That is whn I was able to isolate the sound directly with the rpms thank you I wish I had been my ride height

I'd like to see a video if you can make one. I am just guessing maybe the exhaust is too close to a frame rail or something if this just started after the rebuild. Since the sound has gotten worse, I would for sure take it back to the shop who did the engine. You drive the truck and take a foreman or service manager with you, not a mechanic. Make sure you can duplicate it with someone else there!

Thanks Heavyd, unfortunately where I had my rebuild done they are not that helpful took the service manager for a drive he said he could not here the sound. Had a ruff go with my local international dealer. Had to fight to have the rebuild done and it took them 4 weeks and now they dont want to deal with me any more. Talked to the service manager on thursday and he said you still have 11 monts on your warranty so just drive it. Kinda got me where they want me cause they know I dont have much more money right now they keep telling me they can look at it but its gonna cost me money blah blah blah

I understand your frustration. I would love to be able to help you more. There is just too many things that can and do go wrong that will cause all sorts of noises, all I can do right now is guess and that really isn't going to help you. This could be something simple from a bad motor mount or air to air hose, or complicated like a high pressure oil/injector issue. Would you be able to make a video of it and upload to YouTube?
