Any time your dash behaves like this it is because it has lost communication with the ECM or the data is corrupted. ABS and satelittes are also on the same data link and could be possibly be corrupting the data. Remove any fuses or breakers for the ABS or satellites if you have them, and if the dash returns to normal you know one of those modules is causing the problem. Other than that you are looking at faulty wiring or possibly a bad ECM.

LED lighting will also cause gauges to act up. But I really don't think to the extent you fellas are describing. Usually, it's only one gauge it seems.

Disconnected plugs from ABS, the same ####, beeping and flashing, no changes. Checked all wiring, all looks good. Forgot to tell, that diagnostic laptop reading only brakes and cluster, can't read ECM. ABS fault are all 4 sensors and the first is RF modulator. Now trying to check ECM separately.

Check the engine harness that goes from the right side firewall connector over the engine to the ECM. That harness like to rub through on the firewall, engine and brackets.

Hi. We took off ECM and gave it to dealer, result-it's burned out. Now i am checking all wires. I am afraid to connect a new ECM to the car.

My 06 9400i did the same, it was the ECM. changed all six batteries for winter, ECM would not power back up, the gauges would sweep then peg out
the power wires to the ECM on mine come from the battery box, 2 hots and a ground, both hots being fused. does your fuel pump come on with the key on?
My ECM was shorted and the only way I could get the pump on was to jump it, so the ECM had power but was not passing it through , I have ISX
