In the winter of 2012, the carrier I mention above had "teams" of service techs from navistar come and they brought in groups of trucks to try and keep things going. This was a catastrophe guys. I haven't seen any "new' maxforce units as people are going with the cummins or have swithced over to freightliner.

I just noticed in the Truck Paper adds that at least one of the International Used Truck centers is advertising used Prostars as having "13 litre" and right next to them are adds for "prostar with ISX." THEY CAN'T EVEN SAy THE NAME in their sales pitch! MAXFORCE 13 liter problem for sale. There, I feel better

13 liter maxxforce are terrible. Less power to jakes. Less power. Less lifespan. More problems

My town has 2 new Internationals with the Maxforce. Well, not new because they were bought before the change to DEF. Anyways, yesterday, they were both down. Today, the one that got fixed yesterday is down again. the other is still down. they are fixing ditches using their old Mack. The Dairy supply guy was here this morning. He had to have the EGR and the DPF filter changed out last week on his 2 year old Durastar with the Maxforce. Had no truck for a week. His brother bought a new truck at the same time. Many problems also. This is a bad scene. Serious problems and owners are starting to realize they will have little hope of a good resale value.

This week I drove 2015 prostar with cummins ix15. Good engine. Pulls better than maxxforce. The 2015 prostar driver had a previous 2014 prostar with mx13 with def. He had issues with the dpf and oil filters before he reach 200k miles.

Haven't seen a Prostar with the def MX, as around here they are going with the Cummins.

Yeah this engine has shut me down a total of 68 days in motels to date...its disgusting..you name it and it just about gone wrong in this truck..worse truck in all my driving years!!..I have the 2011 International ProStar...I call it a No Star to anyone who ask me,even at the dealer shop...the stupid thing has died in the middle of intersections, in construction zones, almost caught fire once, the list goes on and on...its been towed like 8 times to date because of breakdowns.. Even the mechanics at the dealer shops for the most part hate them!! Its had load shedding relay cook up like a cheeseburger, fan clutch assembly break apart spewing oil all over the engine, alternator, air compressor, several sensors replaced, 2-EGR valves, EGR cooler, Oil crankcase separator(I think thats what they call it), 2-fuel lines, Fuel tank sending units, lower radiator hose(only 2 months old when it went), 2-fuel injectors, Oxygen senor, and several other items I cant think of at the moment...yeah our company bought several of them...many many problems!!..I have 382,000 on it and thus far they see reason to not trade it in yet..LOL..you know that warrantee work is cheap...LMAO...good thing I play the guitar when Im at these motels, why a few times I have had money thrown to me in my hat...LOL hope they sue the hell out of them!!...a message needs to be sent that keep this crap off the market....they should reimburse all the drivers for the down time, we do get breakdown pay but that is less as you know then rolling....anyways the sogga contines as Im at a motel at this very moment!!..LOL...and yes its that bad ### Max-Force junk..Might haveta break my guitar out again..hey this one has a pool, a sauna, weight room, ####

A Vermonter in a broke down Prostar? If your company only bought several, then you don't work for the outfit I mentioned above, as they have 150 trucks and LOTS of problem Prostars. Sorry you have to put up with that. I think the lawyers have a no brainer on their hands, as Navistar really screwed everyone with this whole thing.

hi turn...Yeah I hear ya on that, well I work for a larger company in Joplin,MO(that should pretty much tell you who I work for..lol), they are overall good but they know they made a huge mistake buying into these, now we have various trucks we have KW, Peterbuilt, Freightliner, International, we have well like 2700 drivers and of course a large volume of trucks. They do good on most everything for the driver, I been here a while, and they do for the most part take care of the drivers, however on this one on the Max Force engine somebody didnt see the trees in the forest you might say, it has cost them big time, they are now replacing them or selling them off as fast/best they can, and the new trucks coming in have the Cummins engine, the breakdowns have gone down quite a lot..I just cant wait for them to get rid of this pig...lol..its a horror show on the road....I have even dubbed the truck that name..lol...anyways take care.
