I got the invoice for the EGR cooler just in case it fails because it's under warranty for a year. It costed $1200 with the core which was $100. It included new gaskets screws and stuff. I'm glad I didn't have to pay for it. Plus the dealer replaced the DEP filter because the coolant got in it too. So far the truck isn't guzzling coolant but I'll wait a week and really keep an eye on the coolant levels to know for sure.

After they replaced the EGR cooler, coolant levels held for almost a week and then started going down again, but not as much. I took the truck back. They ran every test they could of and couldn't find a leak. They told me that the mechs who replaced the EGR didn't "burp" the cooling system, and there was air trapped in the system. They also told me to replace the res. cap which was worn. So I replaced the cap and the coolant levels are holding. I'm checking the levels everyday. I hope there will be no more issues. The truck temp. Ranges have been staying normal through out all of this so that's a good sign.

It is common for them to burp like that after a repair like yours. To prevent that we always vacuum fill the coolant.

Truck is drinking coolant again. This time check engine light came on. Then for like a second the shut engine down light came on but then went off. Took the truck to the shop and they said the DPF could be clogged even though everything was cleaned out and replaced a month ago. They said it could be my EGR cooler again but they will have to check everything to be sure.

Sounds like they messed something up with the repair. Insist that they make it right. Don't let them send you to the back of the line for a shop bay, and press them for compensation for lost time and productivity.

It turns out I need a new radiator and my DPF and DOC cleaned. Grand total over 4,000 dollars. Just to get the DPF DOC cleaned is $1642. I'm going to do that and save the radiator repair when I have enough money saved. And get a second opinion.

I got my radiator replaced by Crestco Capital (AKA lone mountain trucking). I paid $500 total which was a good deal. Then I got my regen on my DPF which the dealership didn't do due to the coolant leak. Now it's the waiting game time, keeping a closer eye on the coolant system to make sure that the leak problem is truely solved. Check engine light came back on 1500 miles later. I'm thinking this light is on because of the Bunk heater, ICON thing. It's disabled and or not working. I think it's a Wabasco but I'll have to take a good look at it.
