What fuel mileage can one expect from a 2008 Prostar ?

    Im getting a tune up and the roof fairing installed so that should help a lot.... i'll post the results when the truck comes back from the first trip

    5mpg at 65mph is excessive, even with no fairings or skirts. Start with the engine & emissions system.

    With a reefer or dry van, a roof fairing is going to save you 5% in mpg. Side skirts (on the tractor) will save you about 1%. Trailer skirts will save you about 5%. Being that you haul light loads, you may consider converting your tractor from 3 axles to 2 (~7% mpg improvement).

    Even if you did all of the modifications, you'd only be looking at going from 5.0 to 5.9mpg compared to what should be well over 7mpg with that weight/lane. So you've got some engine/emissions stuff going on...
