'transfer shift' button on 95 4800

    my second thread yay! i have a 95 international 4800. dt466 motor, allison transmission pretty sure. its an automatic. theres a button on the left right next to the 4x4 button that says 'transfer shift' hi and low. i pressed it and got a horrible grinding noise. tried in drive and neutral. i am familiar with hi and low range shifting on a manual transmission, is this supposed to work like that?

    No, you said 4X4 so that is gonna be the transfer case high and low for the 4 wheel drive. Its only to be used in neutral at a complete stop
