I ran a 2012 for 150,000 mi and never used any coolant. That's about the only good thing I have to say about it though.

Everyone got so excited when international partnered with cat to begin producing the new maxforce engines. Now some time has passed by they have proven to be very unreliable.

That was only the Maxxforce 15. The 13L had nothing to do with Cat. That was Mann of Germany design.

Looking at pics I have to wonder why it looks like 3 different brands on tire on such a low milage truck

I bought a 2008 workstar with Maxx Force 9 engine. Had nothing but engine problems all the way thru 3 year warranty period and they could never get a code to come up or figure out what the problem was. When the warranty was up they told me basically you are on your own. I have had 3 EGR coolers go bad, a turbo and had 8 broken axles. One time maybe it was operator error, but 7 more times.,It was just under engineered from the get go. Had to put a bigger rear end under it with bigger axles. Just pulling max 50 k gvw. A truck built this bad with this many problems is tempting to just let it fall off a mtn and collect insurance. I WOULD NEVER,NEVER buy another INTERNATIONAL JUNKSTAR! I only have 39,000 miles on it as it is a tree trimming bucket truck and just idles most of the time. I have lost as much money in repairs and down time as I paid for this truck. BUYER BEWARE !!!! If they would stand behind their product, maybe it would be different.

I drive a 2012 Pro Star + Eagle daycab with the MaxxForce 13 engine and it sounds like the turbo bearing are going to fly thru the hood when your accelerating. When you get to the top of each gear is when its the worst. Any of you guys run into a similar problem? If so, what was the mechanical diagnosis?

its a shame they are such a piece of crap. my trainer had a pro star plus with max force and i loved it, i called it the international caddy. i was jelous of it for the first week or 2 untill i heard all the horror stories of the 2 pro start +'s our company has. apparently out of about 100 trucks those 2 have spent more time broken down than all the others combined since they got them. i thought they were exagerating for a while but after driving for them for the past 2 months im seeing it myself. my trainers ps+ has been in the shop atleast 3 times and the other one about the same with the latest time it broke down really ruining my day.

i had finished up unloading and washing the tanker earlier than usuall and was all set to be on the road and back at the shop by 930pm instead of the usuall 2am untill the boss called and asked me to drop my trailer and go tow the ps+ off the road and bring its trailer in to the dairy to unload for him. ended up home 2 hrs late instead of 5 hrs early. trainer says they made them so roomy and comfortable because they knew you'd be spending alot of time sitting beside the road in them

If you are experiencing a high pitch whine or whistle noise you probably have a turbo impeller blade damaged and/or shaft wear that is causing the impeller blades to scrape the housing. This is normally a problem with the high pressure turbo, which is the upper one. Visual inspection is how you diagnose it.

    Pharroh336 Thanks this.
