Ive always liked these trucks while growing up I have an oppty to jump on one with quite a bit of work for a good price a 78' eagle 58" bunk 4070b to be exact hows the space in these trucks and real major issues with the cabs?supports? I know my dad back in the 80's had a 75' k100 that had an issue around the cab pivot points and them collapsing or cracking cant remember I was young. but hows the cab inside overall its said that you can lay across the doghouse if you wanted cuase its at seat level. Does this truck have a twin bed in it or smaller?
any pics of comments are greatly appreciated.
whats the over all love for mid70's to early80's 4070b cabovers?

The 78 I drove was starting to have rust issues in the area of the cab steps by 1983. If it has spring suspension it will likely ride pretty rough. If no AC they get pretty hot in the summer. If it hasn't had upgrades to the drivetrain it may only run about 68mph the speed limit was only 55 at the time. Windshield wipers had a tendency to drop down the windshield, had to hit the switch to park them periodically. Headlight switches usually lasted about a year.
I called about one the other day, still have fond memories of the one I drove probably would think my skeleton had been dislocated if I spent a day in one now.flc120 Thanks this. -
lol I hear you bud, this one actually has a electronic engine done up 9spd and a cutoff of a late model freightliner with air bags and 3.23 gears trucks on 11r22.5 so she should run hard it got cruise and all the perks of electronic engines. it has factory ac but it isn't working but that's something living in florida ive learnd to tackle by myself owners giving me a bunch of NOS parts for it. it a real good looking truck I wonder how hard it would be to convert the cab to air ride as well. Neveready how was the interior im about 6' 230lbs hoping I can work it in there.

Drove one in OK, Day cab, 450 Cummins, 290 in WB
13 spd, quiet, airride, pulled oilfield drop decks and a bottom dump. -
I don't recall it being terribly tight at the time I was 6'1" 185lbs. I moved out of a day cab fleetstar so most anything was an improvement. Keep in mind there is no room to stand up and get dressed so you'll be putting your pants on lying down. When we got the 4070b it had 550,000 miles on it and had been running 48 states. There was about 5 layers of duct tape around the doors. I removed the duct tape and didn't see air leak problems around the doors. I was only running midatlantic states so weather wasn't as severe as upper Midwest and northwest. Heater worked good, defrosters so so.

Sorry to start an old thread again, but my dad drove a 4070B in the early 80's. He was 6'1" and 425 pounds at the time. Other than that white monster steering wheel being fairly close to his gut he liked it. Had a 290 Cummins with a 13 speed and big rubber. Darn thing run like a scalded dog with that 45' bread wagon behind it!
