I've been lucky, I live in Ontario and was plugged in the day they started to enforce this nonsense back in '09 (and they couldn't read my ECM from the dash plug), and I've never been bothered since. Lower court struck the law down a couple of years ago, MTO is appealing the ruling but everyone I've spoken to says that a court will toss it out if you show up. Otherwise the MTO and Premier Cracksnacker are more than willing to take your $$$.

They should not be writing tickets for this until it is settled in court. I have a friend who used to run Canada quite a bit. He had a garage that would set the speed to be legal in Canada and then change it back when he came back to the U.S. At one point, he left it alone since he was in Canada so much. After awhile he had his truck reprogrammed to where the speed was back up. He still keeps his speed down, but rarely goes into Canada. The speed limiter law was implemented because of safety, or at least that is the reason they gave. I would love to know if accident rates have changed since the law was passed.

Yeah they have G/man. There are more accidents now than ever before. Most legislation in Ontario over the last 15 odd years has come from the Ontario Trucking Association. Their talking head, David Bradley. parrots whatever the wannabe large carriers tell him to say, and most are governed at a certain speed. ergo, the OTA thinks that if all trucks are governed then people will wanna work for the low rent rate cutting outfits the talking head represents. Hasn't worked out too well for them though, and the rest of us suffer.

It seems the more laws they enact, the less safe the roads become. I wish they would get rid of that speed limiter law in Ontario. Some of the big carriers and American Trucking Association (same thing) want to force speed limiters on the entire industry. They finally got their elog legislation through in the middle of the night. I expect them to start back on the speed limiter band wagon soon after this goes into effect. If roads have become less safe in Ontario after this law was implemented, then it is reasonable to expect a similar outcome in the United States. Every study that I have read, including one from the AAA (American Automobile Association) stated that it would be better for all vehicles to travel at the same speed. Since we have speed limits on nearly all roads, we already have speed limiters, as long as drivers obey the laws. It is good to know about the increased accidents after implementation of this legislation. OOIDA has been fighting this in Ontario and in the U.S. I would hope they are aware of the accident rate increase.

Then there is those who are a little more savvy about what is going on in the ECM of these engines that can set the speed limiter to, say, 65 mph, and then still be able to run something like 10 or 15 mph over that. And anyone can plug in to check the speed limiter and it will only show that the ECM is set to 65. Kind of a "stealth" mode setup in the ECM. No having to switch speed limiter setting all the time when crossing borders and such.

Stealth mode only works with the detroil engine, not Cummins
the bully dog watchdog monitors the engine AND allows resetting the speed limiter, am testing it now, price $899

Don't pull up to Ontario / Quebec scale with only the driver rewards
they read the top engine speed
your top engine speed has to be set to a number that you want rewards to take you to, thus that is the number they read, unless top speed is only set on the service side, which they can't access
