My service check engine light is on. I check my oil and it was low, so i added some oil. Is there anyway i can turn it off? Also, will it be alright to drive it. Its the service light not the warning light. 2006 c13 9400

I am not familiar with a "service" light on a 9400, or I am drawing a blank here. Does this have an automatic transmission?

Is the "service" light blinking on the shifter control? If it is, this is indicating a transmission code is active. To retrieve the flash code, start with key on, engine off. Then within 5 seconds, turn the key off then on - twice, (do not start the engine). If no codes are active, it will flash 2 5.

I had a look at an operators manual and I can see the "service" light in the left panel near the bottom. I actually think the engine is programmed with a service interval and is turning that light on when it is due for an oil change. It definitely isn't a fault light. Any fault that is detected by the engine will turn on the "Warn Eng" or "Stop Eng" lights. I think the "service" light is maintenance related. Unfortunately, the operators manual doesn't mention this light specifically. As long as everything is working ok and you do not get any other lights coming on, I wouldn't worry about until your next scheduled service. Next time it is in for something, just ask them if they can connect to the engine and see if any service or maintenance intervals are turned on.

    rickybobby Thanks this.
