Just bought truck a month ago from freightliner and I have been in and out of the shop ever since I got the truck. Me and my farther in law are doing team and the whole owner operator idea is starting to bite me in the butt. I wish I could turn the truck back in and get my money back and just cut my losses. Unfortunately when you sign the dotted line your screwed. Anyways I've already payed to have fixed various problems that have popped up like were the clamp to the DPF filter was broke, Replaced batteries from a bad alternator that was replaced at the dealership, replaced a coolant reservoir that developed a leak, fixed various issues myself that I've found from where they had left the air intake hose lose, and had to get the turbo retiightened from were the turbo was making a bad whistling noise. My biggest problem right now that I've had that seems to never get fixed is a warn engine and a amber light. I keep getting active 4214 and 2637 codes saying the doc is plugged. Took to frieghtliner in Los Angeles and the said it was a sensor issue. So I had paid for that and it worked till I got back to the east coast. It came back on in PA and I took it to the frieghtliner in Hagerstown MD. They said the DOC was clean but they said the problem was a faulty aftermarket filter that the dealership put on there . They put a new cummins filter on there, replaced the catalyst converter, did a ECM update and sent me on my way. $5000 later stupid thing comes on again in Illinois. I decided to say the hell with it and run anyways because I'm having a ton of down time and it's making it impossible to make truck payment . Anyways I pull into Walcott Iowa, turn the truck off , fuel up and light goes off. This week Light came on again the other day going down a hill in Missouri for 5 seconds. Light goes off so I just wrote it off to a fluke. Yesterday me and my father law took a break in Elko NV because we were running low on hours and when we woke up this morning, about twenty miles down the road it comes on again.. Anyways we've took it the Reno NV freightliner because we hear that it can degenerate and shut the engine down and that I can't afford a tow bill right now we decided to take it in to get it looked at. It has a buyers assurance warranty for two
months and it goes out in a week. All of the stuff that wasn't covered like the petty stuff I listed above has cost me a fortune . Downtime is killing me also because in Hagerstown I was down for a week while they tried to look at it. Anyways if anybody know a or have ever heard of the issue before let me know. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Honestly it sounds like a dozer injector. How many miles on the truck ?

I have a 2011 with a cummins and that warn light used to come on all the time. Ended up being the dozer injector was bad and not allowing the system to do a full regen and making the dpf pop a code that it was plugged. Good news is you have done the doc and the dpf.. dozer will cost you around 600$ to have replaced. It sits right after the turbo on the back side. There is.a option to clean it but it cost around 400 for just the cleaning better off just replacing it.

You can do a google search on it also and see how it is and where it is. Mine at 400k was crusted over and had formed what I can only describe as a sponge bubble. Once that was replaced mpg went up by 2 and the truck roars up hills now.

Also when the light comes on is it staying on 30 to 45 min then turning off ? Also does this happen after idleing for a few hours + then starting down the road and it lights up ?

Ok I'll ask the obvious question. Why on earth would you repeatedly take an International ProStar to a Freightliner dealer? Much as I don't like some of the International shops I've dealt with they would be the logical place to go with a truck they made...

He bought it from Freightliner and Freightliner is the "warranty" provider.

Also when light comes on its stays on. I don't normally idle the truck. If I do it's just for a few min. Mileage is 637,000. It flashed once in Missouri, the other time it's stayed on for two hours till we shut the truck off. The other times we've went 3 or 4 hours but we've went to the dealership to get it fixed from the threat of the truck degenerating

if it has a DPF filter it has a dozer. Dozer is what heats the temp up enough to make the DPF burn off the soot. DEF is a totally different system.

my truck is also pre DEF

Dozer injector is what shoots diesel into the exaghst which then intern the DoC ignites and brings the temp up above 800F to make the DPF regen.

There saying a EGR valve needs to be replaced and the DOC catalyst needs to be replaced also. Is that the Dozer you was talking about? If not how much do one of those things cost.
