Got a Prostar with Cummuns ISX435 that keeps having regen issues.Triangle and warn engine lights come on every 2500-3000 miles.Dpf was cleaned just before I got truck about 12,0000miles ago. Doser injector was cleaned and checked at 2nd force regen 6000miles back.Cummins dealer said the manual regen switch on the dash shows up on Insite but does not show any activity when it is pressed.Would the switch not working affect the trucks ability to regen on its own going down the road? I keep getting sent from place to place with no satisfactory result on fixing regen issue.Any suggestions.

You won't see the regen switch with Insite because that is a digital input switch to cab computer. The cab computer digitally tells the engine. When a DPF is cleaned, you also need to clean the DOC as well. DOC face plugging codes or DOC temp conversion efficiency codes are popular. I can help you better if you can tell me exactly what codes are getting logged.

I do not have the codes because my display wont show them. I do know that the regen switch does not work because it will not do a parked regen when the truck is calling for one such as it is right now.So if the switch does not work does it affect the auto regen going down the road?

Are you holding the switch on or just pushing it and letting go? You need to hold it on until idle increases. You can also eliminate most of your problems with that engine by changing the crankcase filter every 50k miles. Its under the finned cover on the upper left front of the engine.

If the check engine light is on, or the engine has an active regen code it won't allow a regen. The switch has nothing to do with automatic regens when you are driving.

Agree with Heavyd, if you have an active code you can push the regen button all you want but it won't perform a parked regen.

    Few things:
Make sure whoever is cleaning your after-treatment is doing it correctly. A lot of "dealers/companies" are only puffing the units to get them within flow spec, not baking them out. This will not help you and the soot/ash that is not released from baking and will allow the "new" soot/ash to re-collect onto of the remaining soot/ash that was not cleaned out.

Inhibits, if you have any bad switches, clutch, brake, park brake, ect the unit will not run a parked regen as it does not "think" the unit is stationary. Insure the dealer is looking at your body module codes if applicable!!!!- This is a must!

At the end of the day there are many factors that play into proper regenerations, boost pressure, exhaust leaks, egr valve issues, egr temps, ITV, where the burn is within the dpf and doc, ect. Unfortunately, this is not really something that can be diag'ed on a board.

    Best of luck to you!
