My shop is trying to find this in Insite.
They want to disable it because every gear is all over the place as far as RPM.
Some gears Tach 1100 to the floor while others turn 2100....crazy!
Sucks in the mountains when you got to lug it down that low to drop one gear.
My old 2012 ProStar with a Cummins has all this stuff set disabled...pulled great and was much more drivable.
If anyone could tell me the steps in Insite to fix this it would be great!
Progressive shift and load or weight management. Heavy D?

I drive ProStar automatics from time to time. When the transmission is having a bad day and isn't shifting the way I like it, I bump it up or down with the buttons on the steering wheel. If that's not cutting it, then just switch it over to full Manual and shift full time with the buttons on the steering wheel.

This is a 10 speed...the problem is all in the Parameters set in the ECM......Just need to know where to look for them with the laptop.
-
What they need to look for is "Load based speed control" and possibly "Gear down protection" as well in the features and parameters.
For load based speed control you would set the low and high setting to be the same RPM for the engine to rev to that RPM in all gears at all engine loads. -
I'm guessing turn off the progressive shift setting.

Ok, in order to change any parameters you need Insite "lite" or "Pro". If you have Insite "Basic" all you can do is look at them. Once connected you go to "Features and Parameters". Make sure "Gear down protection" is disabled. The main feature you don't like is basically called "progressive shift" or "Maximum Progressive shift". Cummins has changed what this is called and kinda how it works between different families of ISX engines. It is also called different things between engine models. Like with the new ISM it is called "Load based speed control". Newer ISXs it is called "Vehicle acceleration management". So depending on what engine you have it could be called something different. Just write down any change you make so if it ends up being a mistake you can simply just change it back.
EZ Money and QUALITYTRUCK Thank this. -
Found Load based speed control but is has no option to change or disable?
No improvement and the shop is scratching their head!
They said it was the full version of Insite.....Any other Ideas? -
-
Ok, I we have a couple of ISX's in the shop right now, both 871's, I will play with them tomorrow if I can and see what it is actually called.
EZ Money Thanks this. -
On the cm871's it's called load based speed control. You can't totally disable it but we have about 6 trucks with the autoshift trans in them and it's "disabled" for them by setting the values to 1800. In features and parameters you should be able to expand the load based speed control entry and have a high engine speed breakpoint and a low engine speed breakpoint, set both values to 1800 or so and see how it does.
EZ Money Thanks this.
