Thanks but I have desided on GTI. I havn't heard anything about a buy out and it really doesn't sound realistic to me. I've taked to a couple of drivers and they are happy and haven't said anything about it. The company is family owned, has a very high saftey rating and they also own a Frieghtliner dealership. Anyway, if it does hapen I'll just move on. I dout if I'll want to stay with USX.
But thanks for the heads up. Any coments or conserns are always welcome.

I would believe that when I saw it. I remember when everyone thought they were going to buy MS Carriers and Swifty came in and low balled them on that on. But that is USX's MO. If they do, thenplan on being turned into a railhead driver if you are a solo.

Some corporate level snooping around in areas I probly should not have been in. They are trying to buy them out, but I dont know if they are going to or not. GTI is just one of 3 companys they are trying to buy currently...

eh?

My husband is an IDC driver and I have been with him on the road with this company since last august and we have never been questioned about our idle time... and we have run the truck almost constantly for several days at a time. We do have our issues with them.. but nothing like I read from other companies. Your friends particular fleet manager must have been a real ****.. whereas he should have fired him/her.

Went "Why are you idleing? You've been parked since 2am, and it's now 11am." reply"Uh, it's 10deg f. here." The responce in effect was that he must run his truck long enough to raise the temp, then shut it off; and repeat for 10 hours. When the subject of APU'S came up, he explained tht the company had them for TEAMS!!! But could'nt afford the add-ons for the rest of thier fleet, due to remodeling cost for the tacoma terminal.

I made it!!

Well folks, I got my CDL and whent with GTI. I finished training and one week in my own truck. The only problem I've had so far is that my trainer was Gung Ho and kept me out for a month with no break, then I got my own truck and they worked me for another week. Anyway, thats over now and I'm home for 5 days. I really like the company and the people are great. The company is strong and will not be sold to USX. It is a family owned and run business and they also own 3 Frieghtliner dealerships. I know this is an Intersate page but I just had to give you all an update. Jwalker

Why the hell would a team need a APU before a solo driver? If your running a true team operation you should be Idling half as much as a solo driver even without it.

This just go to show you how these outfits think when they have a large team division.

I have wondered the same thing.. makes no sense to me. It would make far more sense from a fuel cost standpoint to put the APU's in a solo drivers truck. Driving as a team with my husband now, the truck is hardly ever just idling. We don't have an APU, nor do we really need one. If the truck is running, our wheels are generally rolling. One thing about IDC.. they do cater to teams. I have seen a big difference while going through the transition from solo driver to team. We didn't too bad with just my husband running solo, but I think it's going to be even better now.. guess time will tell!

Interstate

If you want to know the truth about driving Interstate, talk to the drivers!!! Dont just listen to the people on these boards, especialy if they post on here alot... They probably couldnt handle the trucking life and are now taking it out on the company... I talk to drivers all the time from Interstate, and they love there company and trucks... The only time I heard a bad thing was about 6 months ago and that complaint was there trucks got turned down! Talk to the drivers and ask them how long theyve been with Interstate and that will give you more accurate information.. Good Luck to ya.
