IDC,or interstate dist.co. be leary of this company

yes i worked for idc for 2 1/2 years.and i worked hard for them.
just to get the shaft from them. i hauled regional at first.
than after two weeks of being on the road for the company needed help on a dedicated account GREAT i thought i told them i would help.
Well they told me i needed to get my own car to findlay ohio to get my home time(no way i said that is 326 miles one way)
ok thay said we will let you bob tail.(every other week)
that didin't last long when there were 7 weeks i stayed out becouse they split my days off(not two days in a row).
well time went on and i needed to keep my job.(I DON'T LIKE TO JOB HOP)
well the NEW fleat manager.Blames me for stuf i had no control over.
for example the trls were locked and sealed at the D.C. i get to my store in indiana and the trl i was to pick up for a back haul still had the D.C. seal on the trl.the store was empty the trl and leave it unlocked.(the loads were all drop and hook take a loaded trl to store and pick up empty)
thing is that store didn't touch the trl i was to pick up. my fleat manager tryed to put all on me like it was my fault.
back to the point about the car thing.
after running this account for them for 2 1/2 years i had a house fire lost every thing including a 2005 malibu shortly after the house fire they told me they were not getting me home i would have to bring my own car down to get my home time(326 miles one way).
a couple days after the house fire they forced me to get out of home and run the roads.like i didn't have enough to worry about.than they hit me with not getting me home any more.i would have to find my own way home.

IF THIS IS THE KIND OF COMPANY YOU WANNA WORK FOR BE VERY LEARY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
AND A LITTLE NOTE IN CASE ANY ONE FROM IDC READS THIS.

THANKS FOR KICKING ME WHEN I WAS DOWN ON MY LUCK

Question: Why would you expect a company to pay you to commute 326 miles? They don't get anything out of it. Just a thought. I'm not a big company person, but one really needs to use their heads when they're working. Trucking or not. The company isn't there to wipe your arse. It is there to make money...period! I'm sorry to hear about the fire. It doesn't make anything easier to go through that. Might have been more reasonable to get a load that went by your home now and then. If the dedicated run didn't do that, then why would you expect them to pay about $110 in fuel alone (each way) to get you home? Doesn't seem realistic.

i think what he was saying, is that he was on a regional run to begin with. and then the company wanted him to do this dedicated run to "help them out" . maybe they were short drivers or whatever, so he did it and then they tell him about the hometime issues... i dont know, i think i understand what he is saying....... not bad if this is the only few things bad about this company...

snipped
I worked for IWX there termonal was 300+ from my house I never would have thought that they should suppy me with a way home, unless the loads took me there. Why would you expect them to be responsible for your transportation to work.

Not all bad but not all good

Well, I done 6 months with Interstate. Had some problems with them. But overall, they were pretty fair. I didn't like the no layover part, that was ridiculous to have to sit for 3 days and get absolutely nothing. Need a hotel? Nope, they don't advance you for it if you don't have the cash for it. Hard to get things like a/c fixed. But, the facilities are really nice and they have alot. People are the nicest I have worked with, drivers anyway. The office people are cool too. Overall, not a bad company, just few things they could fix.

I gotta say most companies will send you home with their truck empty, but you do not get paid for it.They are supplting the means and fuel.Expecting you to park a car to do it.Well, that depends on the car and how much hometime you get, cause you gonna spend part of a day driving home and back to the truck.I have couple friends that work for them. They doing pretty good, but they also live in their truck 98 % of the time. Not every company is for every driver. They should have given you emergency leave following the fire. That way you had time to take care of it.Your mind is not on the job when things go drastically bad at home.

Wake up

I don't know what planet u live in, I can not blieve what ur saying. I also work for IDC and have been for the past two years. The dadicated you say you did as a favor is actualy one of the better jobs u can do because of the stability and consistancy of miles and also the fact that it's 100% drop and hook. So in reality you were doing yourself a favor. As of the DM blaming you because the store did not unload the trailer, I don't even know how to respond to that, it is simply unbelievable, it would be the same thing as if you claim that he also blames you for rain or snow (I wonder if he's done that before).
The next issue is the fact that u live over 300 miles away from the terminal, if you're telling the truth it sounds like at one point it was ok fir them to deadhead you home, then they changed their mind. Stuff line that happens, a good example would be for example if the fuel price went up, or if the company is reorganizing and finding ways to cut cost, the bottom line is you do your own calculations and figure out if it is economicaly feasable fir you to drive that far, if not you say no and move back to OTR. And finally you said that they forced you back to work when you needed more time off because your house had burned down, well first sorry to hear about your house, thank god we live in the US, no company in this country can force you to work all they did was ask you, even if they thretened to let you go if you don't come back to work it is still not forcing you, if that is the case and you went back to work for fear from being let go, then it is your fault for not having enough money put asside fir these kind of unexpected emergencies.
Good luck in your next endeavour, it sounds like you might need it.
