I just recently found out that JB is getting rid of the load board and shrinking down it truckload division.
I have been told there is not timeline on the exact date but another driver was informed that it would be round the 1st of the year/

well I use to be a intermodal driver for them and I guess they are switching their efforts to it, in the northeast they are by far the biggest intermodal company, they actually own 2 rail yards, one in Elizabeth,nj and the other one somewhere in around the area of boston

Haven't been on here in a minute or two.
Well its been 6 month's now. Load Visibility is still in effect. Working at 57% can be prosperous if you learn where all the paying loads are at and when they pop up on the board.

MSC Vs MEA (Maintenance Service Contract vs Maintenance Escrow Account)
In my experience the MSC seems like a a good idea running at $0.17 cpm to cover a bumper to bumper maintenance, but I have learned that they are only concerned with keeping the unit in road worthy condition and will push off things until the next B-Service and they will insist on getting git done at a "terminal" for all things repair wise.

I have personally switched over to the escrow account to 1 have a more say in when where what. and to also gain a better feel of keeping my own headaches.

    WorkDay
Now that system has really put a WTH in the mix. Settlement only show a load number and rates. there are expense breakdowns and summary of what was deducted
No mileage, No pick up and destination summary. ei just a load number.
Talking to payroll is like blowing at a brick wall. Cant tell you anything useful and reads the statement your looking at back to you. with the always helpful "talk to your fleet manager"

The one most important thing that I have learned is that the IOCA (Independent Operators Contract Agreement) makes you an independent contractor not a glorified company driver.
You are using there equipment to run freight. That contract is very important to know. even if your on forced dispatch you can say "NO"

That load board from their website used to be my secret weapon when I drove OTR in 2007-2008.

My trick to using it was my wife at home would start monitoring it 7-9 days before my home time was coming up. Now if they had me running the opposite direction of home 5 days out that was a red flag. My wife would find something inbound to NC where I live & text the load number & relevant info to me. I'd then send a Qualcomm message to my FM, always on the Qualcomm so it showed as me 'wanting the load' & he'd investigate getting me on it. Sometimes it was hit or miss as they might have to re-power a load I was currently under to get me on that one heading home. But it was always worth the effort.

After getting home & usually before I ever arrived my wife would have 2 or 3 she'd have found going out after home time was over & I'd get my FM to try & lock me in on them too. This didn't work every time but when it did I'd have guys from all over asking how I was getting an NC to Cali run when all they kept getting was small 400-500 mile 2 day runs or be sent towards Chicago every week, which was like a 2nd address for us Carolina's Region drivers. It was all in how you used the resources & tools JB Hunt has available to you & my FMs always appreciated that.

I'm not sure how any of this would apply to you driver since you have a lease contract & seem to have a pretty good grasp of the load board already. I just thought perhaps you can glean a trick from it & get yourself better set up on some hauls that the keeps wheels turning & gets you home when you need too.

Be be safe out there driver & keep it between the mustard & the mayonnaise! :biggrin_25525:

I'm glad I read this. Now its time to cancel my orientation with JB Hunt. O/O's forced dispatched! no way Charlie! The whole point of being a O/O is the freedom of choice!!
