ewill71, what would be too long? Does JB have problems with not enough trucks for all their drivers? I applied for the 6 western states regional position, is it possible that don't have many trucks out on the west coast? Any feedback you can get me would be helpful. Thanks.

Just be a little more patient waiting on those trucks fellas. It'll be worth it in the end. JB Hunt has equipment spread from one end of the company's footprint to the other. Some of it is dedicated while some is OTR & still more is intermodal only. You'll come to learn just how much it takes keeping all of that tracked & checked once you get a few weeks out there. Your FM is only going by what he/she is being told by maintenance & fleet operations as to where the equipment is. As mentioned above they may have to put you on a plane or in a rental car to go to a truck once it's located. They'll pay all expenses including getting you home to pick up any necessary gear so just give it time & it'll work out.

Your being paid $50 a day to sit & wait. Most companies don't even do that so you're lucky. Enjoy it it only gets better. Your with a great company!

When I started with JB Hunt in 2007 my 1st truck was right there waiting for me on the Concord, NC yard. My next truck required me to take a rental car to Atlanta to pick it up at the Forest Park terminal. My last truck before I left the company had me fly out to Federal Way, WA to get it. That was quite the trip & JB Hunt paid for it all. Can't beat that can you?

I would inquire with your FM on a daily basis atleast once. ANd there maybe a point if you feel you have waited to long that you can tell them if they cant find anything that you could have to end up doing something else... But that would be last resort. They have trucks All off the place and some that drivers abandon and trash. I would say wait it out and see what happens. Granted $50 isn't much but as stated prior some companies don't even pay. Are you at home or in a hotel?

That's an excellent point as stated above. I was on the PPG dedicated account & for 4 days I was waiting on a truck. Finally I asked could I do something else while I waited & they had me back on OTR for a week turning miles. A truck was finally found & readied for me & I just dropped the OTR truck in Atlanta as instructed then took a rental car to OH to get my assigned truck. My FM was fine with the arrangement & I was assigned to a lady named Temple that coaches new hires to JB Hunt's methods when they are 1st hired for a few days. She kept me busy while I waited on my truck. When I left that dedicated account I wound up flying to Federal Way, WA to get another OTR truck.

JB Hunt will work with you in a multitude of ways to accommodate your needs.

I left in 2008 looking for a job where I was home daily. JB Hunt had nothing available for me then. It wasn't anything wrong with my job at JB. I truly enjoyed my time there & looking back miss it more than I ever thought I would. I was one of those guys that thought the grass was greener elsewhere. Boy how wrong I was.

It's the biggest mistake I've EVER made in trucking to this day!

thanks, I was just curious because you were sticking upfor the company and most people claim to be "EX" drivers and just run their gums..... They only give one side of the story not the full story. I have thought about looking else where at times, But I like where I am at and I get treated real good so I am here til they get rid of me.

The thing I came to realize is this, looking for that perfect job that offered miles & home time & pay & benefits & treat me like I'm a person & not a truck number... Well I already had it. I just got lured away by a small outfit whose home office was just across town thinking it was better for me. I had the perfect job for me & I left.

JB Hunt as we all know is stable & will be here long after many others fleets are a footnote in history. Including the fly by night operator I went with after I left. I'm just getting back into the business so I'm starting over. I'm going to have to pay my dues again & earn the respect I lost. But I will get back in a JB Hunt truck & it'll be for good then. So when I see these guys thinking they might want to rethink it & jump ship I want them to exercise an abundance of caution. They have their foot in the at what is in my opinion the finest company out there. Once everything ramps up into place for see guys they'll begin to see & appreciate all that JB Hunt has to offer.

Of course it isn't for everybody & that's ok too. But give them a chance to exhaust all of their resources on a driver & they will as you yourself are well aware. Show them you are cut out for he JB Hunt way & they'll give you a career.

That's my story & I'm sticking to it.
