Don't know where you got your information from chris but your wrong. I make 0.46cpm and the 0.02cpm is a fuel and idle bonus. You are out 12 weeks at a time and get 1 full paid week off that begins on the day you get home. Does everyone get the 0.46, no but it depends on experience and where you live ie: if your from the northeast your wage is higher due to cost of living. Is being out that long hectic? Hell yes. Been out going on 10 weeks now but my vacation is coming up and its already planned. I average about 2,550 miles a week. This last week was 3,100, but that's not the norm just happened to have 2 very good runs. We do a lot of drop and hook. Some intermodal which is easy work. The new internationals that are coming in are very nice. They have 1200 watt inverters installed and flat screen mount in sleeper. The new prostars have cummins engines and look very good and I am not a fan of international.
Having said all that I will say that for the most part i'm very happy here. I'm treated good I get paid every Thursday and although its been off a few times it took 1 phone call and was fixed. You set your eta right and your FM will keep you moving. Weekends are a bit scary occasionally though with getting planned.

DG, the problem is you work on the account and know the truths and this guy hasn't even probably drove a truck and thinks he knows everything......your right you know you are let the crazies give false info. if people want to believe him they lose out.
azcardnlz Thanks this. -
I do drive for jb hunt and thats what i started at and the 12 weeks was not even mentioned if you are a driver for jb then you know about the car parts account out of nc to texas ewill 71 im going from my experince i cant speak for other drivers and dg i did not say anything bad about jb i like it here other than the smaller sleepers on the prostar ive got one and the miles are good just not dependable
-
no nothing about the auto parts runs, But you have legitimate complain about small sleepers... -
Small sleepers suck big time, however it is what it is. The only way to get one is to lease it and that's not going to happen. Although the new prostars seem a lot more roomier than the older ones and the Cascadia im driving.

I called JB HUNT a few years ago about a local job here in my town. The recruiter was something else. I mean astonishment that I wanted to give my current employer a two week notice, actually I was going to clean my truck out and take a week off. Oh and the 10 year work history, she said "just ball park it...." "When can you come in for orientation?" I asked if I could do the real application online and she said "oh you already filled out the app." It was a 7 question quik app on JB.com via my phone.
Don't get me wrong, it is what it is and I actually think its nice a driver can call and start work.....like in 6 hours! I ended up not taking the job but I'd have no problem working for them if they offered something I was interested in near me. They seem spot on with pay projections. Throwing tires 5 days a week for a $1000 bucks gross or delivering Jack in the Box for $1200 a week gross. You won't get rich but you could get by depending on your situation.Last edited: May 8, 2014
