I'm employed by JB Hunt but I work Intermodal in Harrisburg PA. During holidays ES3 (which is C&S York) DCS will get backed up and a few of us get loaned out to them. We get paid a flat $250 for the day when we worked for them. I'm going to give you my experience on it since I can only speak from my experience. You will be in a daycab. You will pick up a grocery load after you get dispatched in there yard and will do several stops at giant grocery stores. It is tight getting in and out of the giant grocery stores. They will unload you and you check off the a list to make sure everything is in order. After you are done you will comeback and either get another load if you have time or that will be your day. All in all I prefer my intermodal job over C&S to be honest. Honestly don't know how they are paid I think it is activity based. I know when they do reefer loads they get paid more but that is about it.

Thanks for the info. Harrisburg intermodel is the other job I have been considering however it's an hour's drive on a good day from maryland for me. I'm glad to come across someone who work's there. If you don't mind I would appreciate you opinion of the job along with any info on it. They advertise $50k a year is that do able? Day work but no weekend's off or are they flexible on that ? Is it something that you could retire from. Thanks

The pay is not bad im talking about 0.41 cpm kinda normal you know i did c&s for 5 months, you will drive a different truck everyday and you will get an assigned truck after 4 years, nice and new international and freigtliner you will get 15$ per stop and 16 per hour waiting to get unloaded i liked it and most places you will be going to are sucks i average over 1000$ every week and now im doing Home depot the best account they got 0.55 cpm 16$ per hour waiting but they will fired you for anything smh

I made over 50k my first year so yes it is very doable. As far the working environment with managment and other drivers it's the most laid back job I ever had in that regard. It's not a bad job. If you never done rail before going to H! when it is extremely busy can be very crazy which you will get use to. As far as time off goes you work 5 days a week and when you are hired they give you a list of starting times that are open you choice which time you want and they give you that starting time. You may or may not get weekends off. After you work there for a bit you can request a new starting time where you have weekends off and you will be able to get it eventually. All in all it's not a bad job. They gave out 4 raises when I first started working here. Some of the guys that been there a while told me it's every two years JB Hunt increases pay for the intermodal drivers in Harrisburg. Overall it's not a bad job man. The hour commute to work is going to wear you out though.

Thanks Cody 1984, what are some of the tough traffic city's you have to drive into, are you required to go into NYC etc. I am sure you slip seat the recruiter said I could probably share a truck with another driver that dose not smoke do you know if they will do that?

You will go to Baltimore regularly and sometimes to DC as well. We do not go to New York or New Jersey...we don't go to Philly or Pittsburgh either. We deliver to places n PA, MD, WV, and VA.
