    I recently found an ad on Craigslist for a regional Home Depot dedicated job out of the Van Buren, OH DC. I've been reading through the threads in here and haven't seen much specific to that DC. Does anyone have any experience with the Van Buren DC, good, bad, or otherwise? Would it typically be a drive at night and sleep during the day or drive during the day and sleep at night thing? Is there anything else anyone would care to mention that hasn't been discussed in the other Home Depot DCS threads?

    I was very close to going to that particular route, with Hunt/DCS while I was job hunting a few weeks back.

    As it was explained to me;

    -It's a fairly normal job, in the sense of trucking, that is out of place. Not a whole lot of night driving, since the warehouse staff at all the stores are 9-5. Though I'm sure this might result in some night driving, jumping from lot to lot.
    -The pay didn't sound horrible
    -You have a guaranteed place to park
    -Not sure on the backhauls, but JBS would be foolish not to do them
    -You will be operating a forklift
    -it is most weekends off.

    Bearing in mind, there's a lot of Home depots in Oh/KY/Pa- there's a good bit of work, and again; dedicated client.

    Seeing as how you're a student, if you get taken on, accepted and employed onto this dedicated job...well...Let's just say you wouldn't be the worst off as a trucker.

    I wasn't assigned to the Van Buren DC, but as a JB Hunt driver, I was pulled off my normal OTR thing for a 3 week spell at the Van Buren, Home Depot account. Don't know what the normal...assigned...drivers to this account earn, but I was paid $175.00 a day for the 3 weeks I was there. Most of my stops were in the Detroit area and the Cleveland area. Most were just 1 stoppers, most were 'drop n hook' loads. On 2 occasion they deadheaded me from Van Buren to the Indianapolis area to p/u a load and return it to Van Buren.....so YES, you do get backhaul assignments. But NO to the previous writer's comment about forklifts. You do NOT have to operate a forklift....and YES to it is all dayshift type driving, as all loads are scheduled to deliver BEFORE 1700.

    Thanks for the replies. They've been very informative. I called them yesterday but the recruiter couldn't tell me anything other than what was in the job posting and said my questions would have to be asked in orientation. The problem is I already have a decent local job and don't want to leave and be committed and end up hating it. I'm still not exactly positive what I want to do though. They claim annual average is $47K. From my reading other threads, it sounds like they're somewhat accurate on their earnings estimations on the dedicated accounts. Is this true?
