Was otr for about 4 months did that ust long enough to get local gig. Averaged maybe 700 a week when i did otr. Being paid 200 a day with a trainer right now. Today was my third day orientation was last week. Orientation was orientation nothing special pretty standard.

SO out of newburgh its mostly stop n shops dry foods and the stores unload with a power jack and your out in 30 min usually. I went to the so called hard stores "Hopewell junction mammorack ny. Not really hard. The yard at c&s is not that bad unless your a common carrier or a jockey if your a jb driver the spots you back into are usually easy at the yard. The trailers that i have seen look well maintained and they are big on safety and if you tell them your tired in the am they will have you come in later so the start times are somewhat flexible. Long ### days sometimes. today was 9 hours short day. 2 previous days were 13-14 hour days. I am going to move closer to the yard. I cant see you making under 1000 a week unless you get a later start time around 2pm or later. 1200-1600 is what you can make and home every day. Uniforms are nice looking. You get priority at the recievers(stop n shop) unlike otr where you have 1-6 hour unloads or loads. So far so good. You def see and hear the former webster guys ######## and complaining which i am guessing is where some of the bs you here comes from and is prob why they are hiring so much. They had to get rid of some guys who were damaging the bendix systems by kicking them or pulling the fuses or cutting the wires. Anything you wanna know ask.

Man that statement is so true, as I've experienced the BS for common carriers at that yard MANY times.
    Congrats on the new gig!

Well the Webster guys had it made before Steve went crazy and it all went to hell (thanks to Mya, chick that was on IRT). Hearing the stories, they got away with whatever as long as the work got done. Not to mention making over 3k a wk. Not all the old Webster guys complained, I worked with a few doing my furniture gig and they were a riot. You been into the NYC side of things yet? That's where the challenge will be. That seems to be where you'll be doing the unloading since most the stores over there do not seem to care. Just going by what I see as I'll pass a bunch of them throughout my day.
Remember the C&S drivers ran the show so doesn't surprise me they complain. Glad to hear good things over there though.

idk if they are the same guys derailed just started.

Newburgh does not get dispached to nyc often. Only 2 stores in the bronx lot of stores in long island.

The guys out of new windsor locks do most of nyc and most of their trailers are 12'6 and 96 wide.

Yes, all the same. And when C&S took over the direct employees from the grocery companies, like Stop & Shop, it was the same story. The drivers went from good paying union jobs to much lower wages at C & S. History repeats itself! Bottom line - C & S just hates spending money.

Curious how JB is working out for you, I am have been otr for just over 3 months and have been kicking around the idea of looking into JB out of newburgh. Whats an average day like Hours etc., hows the pay, how much nyc, is the equipment decent, anything else you can think of that would be helpful

Out of newburgh mostly long island and ct.One stop n shop in yokners easy. Only 2 stores in bronx one is right off 95 other one is hard Newburgh is nothing but stop and shops 100+ stores 10-15 of them are hard but gets easier everytime you go. You can make more than what they advertise which for me is new. The 2 otr companies i worked for before jb hunt i made much less than what they said i would make. Here ive made alittle more. Yesterday was short 8 hours and 2 days ago I did 2 runs to long island. First run was one stop drop n hook. when i got back to newburgh they asked if i wanted to pick up a extra trailer in long island and bring back to newburgh. So i bobtailed to long island apicked it up. 11 hour day good miles and very easy. today was 12 hours little over 400 miles. 55 hours a week for 5 days is about average but you can work more if you want and you can get hired on part time. Ive done a 16 hour day once when i had to pick up a driver that broke down. He did the driving when i picked him up. Out of all the c&s warehouses within 150 miles of newburgh. Newburgh is the best to work for. Chester, windor locks, north hatfield, the one in nj they all suck. They send you to nyc like brooklyn and manhatten queens and small key food stores and liftgate work reefers and ####. I wouldnt worry about that out of newburgh i never did a run to anything other than stop and shop even for chester. Newburgh is all dry box stop n shop good directions to stores. You will sometimes be sent to other c&s warehouses when newburgh is slow last week went to chester the directions they gave me said there will be a bridge marked 12'8 but to go under anyway because sign is not correct. I like it much better than otr. More money home everyday. The trailers are in very good shape and usually a trailer repair guy is on site. The trucks some good some bad. Nothing major.

I would apply for jb hunt otr pays crap and they will hire you in like a week of applying for them. You could literly be home every night 7 days from now if you wanted

3 months is enough but newburgh is better. Chester is harder.
