I'm so glad Canada doesn't have DAC!!!

With all the posts about JB Hunt, I can't believe anyone who says they are great.

We worked for a company, though, where you had to BEG and BEG for miles - and never got home. The local drivers, though, they got home all the time. They had freight going to OUR home town THREE TIMES a WEEK but we never saw any of it. I'm glad we're out of there. Mike drives regional now and works nights but at least we're home and making regular money again.

If there's an account being lost, Ask about a different position. I'm not in the office right now to look at the openings, but it can be done, all you gotta do is ask. Call our number, you'll get someone. Either your FM or one of the recruiters can tell you what positions are open.

Last year my brother leased to own and operate for JB Hunt. He worked hard for this company for a year only to be fired shortly after he almost paid off his truck. He stopped off the road to chain up in a snow storm, in which he got stuck in an enbankment. He got a hold of a tow- being stuck for almost 2 days-- only to have JB HUNT fire him for doing his job. Not only that JB HUNT took his truck and took his paycheck to detail the truck for it to be resold-- does not get back any of the $24,000 he put into it- & he is having trouble finding a new trucking job since because they trashed his driving record reporting an incident/accident. So, basically they fired him, took his truck (no paycheck) and ruined his driving record-- wow IS THIS LEGAL? Talk about being screwed over....he did not have any money for a lawyer---with a family to support and all. There was also some savings account he had (not sure stock- savings? or something- about 8 grand for savings- JB HUNT took that also--. No one should work for JB HUNT- if you do you may as well bend over...:biggrin_2551:

    hahaha!!!!

JB Hunt recruiter (apparently an O/O) just called me about a driving job with Hunt. Told me that they will average 2500 on OTR. Some are doing 3000 miles.

Even told me he could get me my own truck in the Southeast when I move there so I could be an O/O.

    ROFLMAO!!!!!

    .34/mi x 0 miles = $0.00

Hey Mr. Dude, Is it true that you need to have three months experience. I drove for Swift about seven years ago. Unfortunately, when I finished with my trainer they gave me a truck that almost killed me. I avoided an accident, how i don't know, but after that I promised my father that I wouldn't put him through that worry anymore. After that near calamity, they wanted to force me to use the truck against the recomendations of the mechanics that worked on it and at some point threaten to fire me if I didn't. I just wanted them to fix what their mechannics said was very unsafe. At that time, I told them that they could take their truck back and turned in my keys. I was only in that truck for about 2 to 3 weeks. Since then my father passed away, I kept my promise to him and would like to get back into it. I am in a unique situation as I have my CDL but no recent experience. Just curious. I like the way JB Hunt allows you to "bank" some of your days off as I am unmarried with no children and could stay outa little longer. The days offf would mean more if I could take them say at a week at a time rather than a few here or there. Thanks.

wow the recruiters are working this blog aren't they!! i won't work for a company that will ding my DAC because they "can". to be honest i would have knocked that guy out!! when i first thought about trucking i liked the look of JBHUNT. but i was ignorant and new. now i know better. i hope everyone stays away from the likes of them and swift. also all the swift-hunt wannabees too. they are all the same. guard your DAC. if i was told to operate a vehicle that was unsafe or i was fired the DOT would be there as soon as i could call them!! GOODLUCK ALL

Ok beanhauler, I understand what you are saying but with no recent experience you are limited to what company you can work for until you get that first year of experience under you. Unfortunately, if you look at all the post for these companies they all have negative comments. So it really comes down to the best of the worst. It is difficult because they are people at every company that complain all the time about the smallest of things and there are legitamite complaints from people but you don't know which are which. To be honest there are so many negative comments out here about these companies they just blur together after a while and there are several comments that come across as people with just an ax to grind. So what are we to do? Who is right and who is wrong. Seems like just when you settle on a company to go with someone will come along and say it's an idiotic move to go with them. When you start, you will have to put up with alot until you get your wings. I ask these questions because I am narrowing down a list of companies that may take me on. The only way for us to learn is to ask. Thanks.

I get these calls ALL the time! "Hey I have a great driving job for you!" Ok, who are you with? "I can get you plenty of miles and home often!" Ok, who are you with? "Drop and hook loads that keep you rolling!" OK, WHO THE $%## ARE YOU WITH?!!?!!? "JB Hunt." Ok, I'm not interested. Bye!

I get those alot. They all come from "Unknown" numbers. What troubles me is that if JB is as good as they claim to be on their radio commercials and printed ads, why do their recruiters have to hide the fact that they work for JB Slow?

To Illini_Trucker: I haven't worked at JBHT since December. I started working as an Engineer for the UP Railroad based out of Van Buren, AR. I don't doubt for a second that lies have been told. I used to sit there alongside them.

Sad thing is: Big companies don't change all at once, they do these "Test Stages", Like with a few of the trucks having APUs, and a few of these new trucks are Cascadias with Cats in em or what have you. If it's Saving $, then it will be implemented.
