JB likes to drag you out to orientation after a recruiter lies to you saying that you'll be hired. 60 people brought out for 6 positions, etc. Very goofy setup. Also, you do know that JB policy is if you take more than iirc 2 days off tractor has to be turned in? Most big companies have very few tractors that are not assigned, and if you turn it in you will have a hard time getting another...

I will soon be working for JB Hunt. (not by choice!) They are taking over the hauling contract for the company I work for. I have heard more good about them than bad. They do the intermodel stuff from albany NY. I have talked with a couple drivers from their and they seem to be happy. The bad rep thay got is old news. They have a GREAT D.O.T rating, and the trucks are well kept. I haul building materials, but they say on our slow days, we can also do intermodel out of the albany yard. I am hoping for good things. The company I am/was working for SUCK bigtime and has one of the WORST D.O.T. ratings in the U.S.!! I was CONSTANTLY harassed by D.O.T.

My hubby just started with JB hunt intermodel. He likes it, he gets roughly 2000-2500 miles a week with 2 days off. They pay you for drop/hooks, for giving other drivers rides, stop pay, ect.. They keep my hubby busy, he doesn't have to wait long for his next load. The trailers and chassis are in really good condition, he hasn't had one that is crumby yet. He is getting a brand new 2010 truck here in a few weeks. His only complaint so far is that #### qualcomm. lol. the last company he was at didn't have them so he has to get used to the ever annoying BEEP. :) I wish You the best of luck finding a job in this crappy economy.

Got a suggestion for your hubby. There is a volume button on the lower left side of the qualcomm. He should turn it all the way down til it is muted.

When I started my FM at that time sent out about 40 messages a day and it drove me nuts. Most were fleet msgs and could be ignored. In my truck I have a display on my dash that shows when I get a preplan. Preplans and urgent messages are the only ones I make any attempt to respond to. Otherwise I ignore them until I get where I'm going and I always have the beep muted.

Yes my hubby gets to bring the truck home, well to the wal-mart in town cuz our street is too narrow. In your situation tho you probably won't be able to. Milwaukee is not more then 100 miles from Chicago. To be allowed to take the truck home you have to live more then 100 miles (as the bird flies) from your home terminal. Less then 100 miles you have to leave the truck at the yard. I would discuss it with your recruiter if you have one.

Don't discuss it with your recruiter, he won't have a clue so you will force him to make something up.

That call would be made by your manager on a case by case basis.

The job decription say for milwaukee intermodal you can take the truck home on your days off and no slip seating. But those decriptions aren't always truthfull. Most of the time the recruitors don't tell the truth either. I just don't want to drive to Chicago to get the truck every time I am off.
