For the most part you will pick up inbound loaded containers from the yard in Haslet and deliver them within about a 300 - 500 mile radius.
You will then go pick up another load and return to the rail yard.
The process simply repeats itself. Some drivers keep rolling until their off and others may call it a day when they get back.
The majority of the regional drivers are out for one week and then get two days off, usually the weekends.
It's not a bad way to go if your looking for relatively easy work. Most of the stops are drop and hook and there is always the opportunity to go local later on.

Sounds like what I'm looking for. Do they use condos or midroofs? I wish I could take the truck home. That would be perfect
-
As far as taking the truck home that is a call that your fleet manager will have to make. There may be some drivers that do but I think they would rather you park at the yard if you live within 60 miles or so. -
Thanks -
If I Remeber Correctly
frankreno Thanks this. -
Well jb did have a big orientation, the only people who didn't get jobs though were the handful who couldn't pass the
physical. Everyone else got the
job their recruiter told them they would get. If anyone cares jb is pretty much divided into two groups, intermodal
and dcs, which is all their dedicated. They have almost no otr anymore from what I hear. If anyone has any questions I would be glad to try to answer them. -
I was thinking about jb hunt. I live in Dublin, GA...they have a regional out of Atlanta that they offered me and said I would be running everything from i-35 over...how does that sound? 12 on with 2 days off..the pay was low .32/mile with 2400 miles a week. Please someone help me is this good or not? I hear so much bad stuff about jb hunt saying that its hard to get miles is this true? Thanks and all info is greatly appreciated..

I would stay away from that regional thing. It sounds more like otr and jb has all but phased out otr.
J-money Thanks this. -
The truck was always returned to my home terminal.
If you quit badly, they will submit the report - just like any other DAC reporting company. -
the rail is the best job in the industry....at JB you work 5 days a week...you go home every day....you do not wait for a dispatch...I was given my whole days work when I reported for work at 10:00 am every day....you could go home after 9 hours on duty or stay for 14 and make more money....I worked the 14 every day so that I could take 2 days off every week and still bring home $950.00 a week....that's NET.....you report your miles from the odometer and are paid for all miles ( which means you can take alternate routes around traffic )....you are paid for the load also....If there was not a backhaul they would have you bring back an empty...some days you might spend the whole day picking up empties and bringing them to the rail...that paid $15.00 for the empty plus miles...my goal was $200.00 a day....when freight is low you just go home...unlike waiting 2 days at a truck stop for a dispatch....I am retired from trucking now and have been for over 2 years, but there are times I wish I was back behind the wheel.....
vonbones167, MTownZ and scottied67 Thank this.
