What kind of tractors do they give you on intermodal ? Are they the small goofy looking 53 inch sleeper ? Do they really pay detention and being held up at the rail ? Are they normally heavy loads ? Are they picky where you fuel ? Do they route you for fuel stops ? Is there an idle policy ? Im debating going intermodal. Sounds good. What is the downside ? Can you really bring home $975 a week ? Thanks in advance.

As far tractors go on the regional are mostly Freightliner Cascadia's, International Prostars, and Freightliner Century. The size of the sleeper, I have no idea but what I do kno is that u can't pack alot of ur belongings. Cascadia's lack a lot of storage compartmentaareres. I heard that Prostars are smaller than Cascadia's. We do pull our fair share of heavy stuff but I would say majority of the time in Ga we're light. As far as fueling they want u to go to Pilot, Flying J or a terminal. Fuel routing is nonexistent u fuel where and when u want. I have never seen a fuel route working for JB Hunt definitel easty have a idle policy but I think its pretty easy to accomplish. U can gross 975 a week jus have to be willing to work. Now the downsides. Terminals are micro-managed by the terminal manager. That means that pay and incentives are governed by the TM not by corporate. So this could be a good thing or bad thing. I know my TM has changed a few things regarding pay, like our breakdown starts as soon as we breakdown. If u breakdown at 0900 u start getting paid $14/hr at 0900 til ur back on the road. Our safety bonus went from 500 to 700 but u have to keep ur nose clean to get it. I know I didn't cover a lot of things jus tell me what u want to know and i'll try an help.

Hows the idle policy work? I have to make a decision this week. How is orientation? The recruiter is saying you can gross 1150 a week and now they have a $2000 sign on bonus. I really hate those small trucks. I dont wanna sweat my ### off either all summer. How long does it take to get weekends off ? Do they pay you as soon s youbreak down? Is it true you get 48 hours off?

The idle policy isn't too stringent pretty easy to stay below it. I've been here 4yrs and never been n trouble for idling. U really do get 48hrs off. How long does it take to get weekends off, I thought that was the schedule available, I guess it depends on location. Grossing 1150 a week depends on location. I know Chicago guys clear 1100 easy. I've spoke to plenty drivers up there in Chi-Town.

Im gonna be going to orientation next week 5 miles from my house then i have to ride a dang gum greyhound to chicago to get my truck and dispatched from there. Im deciding between j.b. and Tmc. Jb sure sounds better except for giving up my weekends and living in a small truck. Do they have pre pass / ez pass. Do they have cash advance? Do they pay back all scale tickets? Can you have an inventer in the truck? Are there any rules or regulations i need to be a ware of? I heard they have classrooms of drivers every monday and send half home. Thanks catfishbilly you have been really helpful.

We do have pre pass. We do have cash advance. All scale tickets are re paid just scan them in when u scan ur paperwork. I'm not sure about inverters. JB does have large classes that are cut down to a fraction of the original class size. The reason being is that ur recruiter did a preliminary background check on you. When u get there for orientation that's when they really check all past employers, DAC, crimnal history everything and they're very thorough. So the best thing to do is be honest. Rules: absolutely no u-turns and no cellphones while ur driving. Those are the major things jus do ur job and you'll be just fine.

That's good news. Make sure you stick with it , there will be busy weeks, slow weeks. The important thing is to spend less than you make and you'll be ok. Don't go an buy a new car on credit, etc.
