Oram, did you consider the Volvo 780? If so, what led you to the T680?

My specs sheet shows 18,500 but it depends on the options you choose.

    17,900lbs on the spec sheet.

Here is my earlier post on Volvo

"I have a 98' Volvo 770 with a Detroit engine. She is a reliable, decent partner of mine since 2000. But I will give you some of my thought, why I would not buy a new one. Sure she has a nice ride, at the time of the purchase not many trucks could come close. But they did not improve anything since then and the other truck makers are catching up. She is heavy. Little over 20,000 pounds without fuel. Depend on the trailer sometimes I have problem with 43-44,000 pounds in the dry van. Every part what use the name "Volvo" is premium priced and low quality. They made some cosmetic changes in 2002. Every strong built fiberglass body parts was changed to cheap plastic. Bumper, hood, skirts, what by the way falling apart after a couple months, and a little hit on them, and cracks all the way. The chrome on plastic everywhere is peeling off. The headlight is complex, expensive, and need to be changed every 3-4 years, because after that a candle give more light. Anyway, the water go into it after a few years. The dash nice, complex, sealed one piece. Even the bulbs are not replaceable. During the last 12 years I had to replace gauges six times, plus some bulbs. A new dash is 1,200$. Do the math. The paint of the frame so bad, after 5-6 years it looks 100. I have two friends with a 2008 and a 2009 Volvo, Volvo engine. In the first two years they were in and out of the dealership mostly because of electrical issues, (sometimes on hook) also they had to change the injectors and pay for the upgrade even under warranty, because the factory ones could not stand the pressure. It is true, after the first couple years, after every bug was fixed, they are quite happy with their trucks......But they would try a different brand next time. So do I."

Hi everybody, This is my 1st msge in this forum ever, till now i was just reading a lot all over the reports that i could've found because i'm in the same spot that ORAM is... my Volvo 770,12.7 det 1999,13 OD stick is 1.538.000 miles that i bought march 2004 with 527000 miles it was a very good till now without any work done except 3 valve and jake adj.,....all the other parts alround were changed but the AC compressor....ofcourse the job i've done with it helped a lot being in expediting averaging i'd say all this years 20000 lbs ...team with my wife :biggrin_255:.....I was realy expecting the Louisville,ky show this year to see the new volvo after 10 y since they brought the actual one ,but surprise....nothing.....Now, after seeing the T 680 and volvo 780 on the same day 2 days ago, detroit,mi area ...today met with KW salesman and went over their list/options and end up with $ 212000 list ...18480 lbs will see tommorow what their final price will be....but i've set my mind on to pay no more than 65%--67%(137800----142100)):biggrin_25510:that without any extra warranty yet..will see.

PS. Only 2 things that we don't like is the very small fridge and way less drawers/space for 2 people

Heck, I want to buy it for the rotating seat and table. :biggrin_25523:

IIRC, everything is now good with Dynasys. And if Carrier's APU's are like their reefers, stay away. We have a mechanic in our shop that used to work for Carrier and even says he wouldn't buy one anymore.
