ok long story short my 1997 Kw W900B with cat C-10 dropped a valve. I'm not going to replace the c10 I want to put a C15 or 3406E in the place

I need to know what will have to be done to make it work. I know the c15 is longer so i know the rear motor mounts will have to be moved back along with clutch linkage, exhaust,& get the drive shaft cut what else?

Is is worth it to do the engine swap?

    truck has a 8LL with ds404 rears 4.11 ratio

any help would be nice I've been down 3 weeks I need to get back to work

It could be done, but I can't imagine it being worth the trouble unless the truck is something really special to you or some collector truck.
Because lot of headache will come into play with the wiring harness and linkages.

Besides the time it would take before getting back to work.

It's a tandem dump truck. Sand & gravel hauler Truck is in very good shape. Plus it's paid for. I've got a $10k. I want to get the most for the money. I will be doing all the work my self.

It could be done for less than 10K in parts. You could get a decent 3406e for less than that. Get the ecm with it and wiring harnes. I think I might try to find one that came out of a KW and get the chassis harness also.
Otherwise if your mechanically inclined and got some good tools, it could be quite a fun learning experience.

Personally I think the 3406 cat is one of the most versital engines.

I've got the tools to do the job. I'm thinking about buying a complete truck kenworth mid to late 90's and do the swap. I have me eye on a couple of truck in the $6000 range with recent inframe 3406E. I have been told as long as I swap to a cat engine the wiring will work. Mine is a 40 pin ECM. I know I can buy a 40 to 70 pin wiring harness for $300.

They make a 40-70 pin adapters also.
My 99 3406e cat is also a 40 pin. I just purchased a new engine harness from cat for 247$

I think the only way to make it work is to buy a complete truck around the same year. What years were the best 3406e what serial numbers do iI need to look for
