I just had the diesel doctor in Mt Vernon il turn up my truck (3406e) but wow did the mpgs drop I was at 5.5 to 6.1 depending on run but just got 4.7 on a Mo to indiana run not good. My fls was at -13 they changed to 127 and the fts was at 3 and I think it was changed to 30. The other thing changed was injector codes which was all over the board they changed all to 5232 or something like that and only other change I know of was turnd off the soft cruise. I do have better climbing power but should it have dropped mpgs like that. They said I should have better mpgs.
The lady that did was amazed to hear my last 2 trips where 5.9 and 6.1 when she seen the -13 anyways just asking if I am stuck with one or the other good climbing power or ok fuel because as much as I like making hills better can't have that poor of mpg got to have atleast 5.5.

You mean you get lower fuel economy driving faster?
SAY IT AIN'T SO!Raiderfanatic and gpsman Thank this. -
He was losing his mind and a small fortune because his truck was in the shop so much trying to fix it and they could never find anything wrong with it.
I tried to offer him a clue, but I was running I-80, and I think he must have been pushing 50K watts from I-70 or 90. -
Just a bit more hill power should not be almost 1.2 mpg less running the same speed other than climbing a tad faster I maybe wrong but I hear these guys getting 6+ with the 3406e all the time heck I even expected a little drop on heavy hilly loads but that big was not expected.
I would not have done it had I not talked to several drivers say they got the little extra power plus a few tenths better mpg. -
bgxpress2006 Thanks this.

Yeah I know thanks for the heads up though I always do the math. What does the -13 to 127 do and is what I was told a -# is a bad thing?
I know I need to if nothing else get it set back where it was but would love to l know some good #'s to get the most out of the motor. I understand there is a trade off between power and fuel efficiency like to find that middle ground most pull for reasonable fuel I am not ever going to get the big fuel economy out of here not asking for unreasonable amount happy with 5.5 to 6. Talked to few getting 6.5 running 70 all day but I know I won't get it. -
