Hey folks. After years of thinking I can do this whole trucking thing better than my boss I jumped in and finally bought my own truck. I've got an old 86 W900 dump truck that's chugging along fine. I've got some air brake questions, but that's a deeper subject than I feel like right now, buuuuut….

Anyone know where to get the lights and labels for the dash switches? Every search comes up with 6 million chrome accessories, I just want the lights and some labels. I also need to make my overhead idiot lights work, but that's probably a simple fix.

Also, on a Cat 425, does the fuel pressure sensor mount on the filter right before the injectors? Someone removed mine(and the trans temp sensor, and the rear end temp sensors, and...) and I'm interested in re-installing it.

    That's it for now!
    Thanks!

The switch labels are a dealer item only.

Ya dealer is the place to go. You can plug sensor back in any issues and you will get engine light and well that would mean change the sensor. The reason it's unplugged is probly cause the last owner put a resistor in it. Wich will increase horse power. He probly took it with him. What ya got for air brake problems I'm awsome at that. Lol

Thanks for the replies. I guess I'm putting lipstick on a pig here, but It's what I stare at all day long and it bothers me when something doesn't work. I got the overhead lights to work, which is cool.
    Airbrakes:
The front ratio valve leaks when I step on the brake, is that normal to bypass pressure? I've got a rebuilt one on the way, as that doesn't seem right.
The balance tube between the two rear brake valves has been cut. Is there a reason for this? Is this common? Should I reconnect them?
The system has been giving me random issues, which I've been picking away at, and assume it's due to it's age and it probably sat for a while. Any hot tips on things I should be looking for? I want to keep this thing going as strong and fairly leak free as it is now.

Sounds like you have a break pot back feeding air try crimping lines with vise grips on pots to see if your back feed stops

Dash labels and lights- dealer or on occasion ebay. I get mine from salvage yard usually. Scott Foster at Foster's salvage in Batesville Ar. is really good about hooking people up with little odds and ends like your dash stuff and temp senders etc. Great guy to deal with and takes paypal. Has lots of KW stuff too.

As far as your fuel pressure sender, does truck have a fuel pressure guage or fuel restriction guage? Is that guage electrical or mechanical?
The way to tell is by looking at back side of guage. If it has a hose going into it it is mechanical, if not , it is electrical. As far as stuff unplugged, an 86 425 is not a wire motor and would not benefit from having any resistors placed inline and will not have a check engine light per say, only low oil or high water.

The little rectangle switch labels (for a 1999 for example) that say things like "Engine Brake" or "Wiper" and light up?

$12 each with discount. And they changed the color slightly so if u want them to look good then u replace them all....

Mine need replacing also. Its a 2001. My question is, are there bulbs or can i switch the color to blue? Or on older models we have to stick with amber and no options?
