Noticed today that my left brake lights aren't working after redoing all the lights on the rear. Currently, have power to a White wire that powers the left signal. (As I understand it this should also power the brake) A green wire works the Right signal/Brake. A ground wire. And a Brown for the marker lights. Also, in the same wrap I have a red/white striped wire, yellow, and red wire that I don't think have any applications.

What could cause me not to have the brake on the left hand side when I have signal. Any relays or switches? If so where are they? I have already tried the brake fuse under the clutch.

nit really a "fix" but if your right light is working, just run a jumper

Thought about that. But, cant do that with out having the right turn signal affecting the left light.

Make sure you have good ground on that connector. The turn signal will still work because it's getting ground from the front turn signal. GL!

Double chk your bundle of wires with a test light . ground test light to frame and touch yellow wire strand with left turn signal on. IIRC yellow is supposed to be left turn and white shoud be ground. Green rt turn. brown tail. Then going into trailer plug same except red goes to brake light terminal and black side marker. Usually on tractor left and rt turn also carry brake light signal as on a car or pickup, but trailer has separate red wire for brake lights. If somebody has swapped wires around where yellow is doing nothing I would want to go back up the line and figure out where and get it right.

After re -reading your post, I am pretty sure you have wires mixed up resulting in a feedback which would be why even have one function working.

OK used a test light and connect a new wire directly to the battery ground. Tested every wire in the harness and still don't have the left brake.

Ok, follow wiring back up the line. In fact just go straight to your turn signal switch on column and work it from that direction. In other words, at the turn switch determine that you have one constant hot and one wire going to side that is working when you turn switch one way. Then another wire that becomes hot when u switch it the other way. I still think you have issues in your wiring in the back because the colors you quoted don't match code, but we gotta get something hot back there to figure out that issue. If I get a chance this weekend I will check the wiring on my turn switch and give you more details on how to check that. BTW, do your 4 way flashers work right? ANd how about your front signal on that side? If your front signal is working forget checking switch per say. I have a 93 and things should be relative. I will study it a little closer and try to help you.

Just reread your op. If you have turn but no no brake that is a different animal. Sorry bout that. Whoever stated turn is ground through front hit that nail on the head. Especially if your front and rear turn signals are not in time with each other. Check your wires with light again. With left turn signal on see which wire is flashing with test light grounded to battery as before. Forget about brake for the time being. I really think your white wire should be going to the ground terminal on light. Yellow wire should be going to turn/brake. I think the reason you have a flash at white wire is because you have a voltage feedback signal. Just try it. Worst could happen is you might blow a fuse. I am still uncertain as to how the other side is grounding properly, but there could be alot of answers for that.

    walterjacobo15 Thanks this.
