I am having problems with my fifth wheel and it makes it hard to hook up to some trailers especially sense I have 24.5 tires. My fifth wheel after uncoupling it does not go back down at a slant but stays parallel to the frame. Just as if I was hooked up to a trailer. I tried jumping on it to try to make it go back to an angle. I have tried spraying some BP on it. Just dont know how to get it back to normal. I bought the truck like this by the way. Any ideas what I may do. I pulled a RGN the other day and very difficult to hook up because of this issue. I know I can get ramps looking into it, but I know they say you still need your fifth wheel to slant for them to work properly cause if to high it can cause drag on turning of the trailer and such..
Thank You

Are you sure its not blocked solid. This is done when pulling a frameless end dump. If it is then its not pivoting properly when pulling a normal trailer that ain't good
-
8ft. 2*4 or 4by4 will make it move if not CK. the ft. of 5th. wheel for a shim or rod like wore/out said, need to look for grease fittings under 5th wheel plate to grease the bushings if not found may need to have bushing replaced at 5th wheel shop, look for name of man. that built it on FT. or side of plate then look up nearest shop?
-
yep, either it was pulling a dump type trailer and the 5th wheel is locked in with a rod of some sort to which should be able to be removed. or the bushings have never been greased and now it's frozen in position.
-
I will have to check for the rod I believe the guy said it pulled a concrete bulk tanks... If the bushings are frozen is there a way to get them in frozen??
-
If the bushings are frozen id recommend replacing the bushings, depending on what type of fifth wheel you have
-
New style Holland 5th wheels don't have grease nipple anywhere.

Jost fifth wheels don't slant when unhitched because of the way they are bushed

You sure about that? Mine does and has ever since installed.
