I purchased a couple of 2007 Kenwoth T-800s last year and they have turned out to be a great purchase until on caught on fire randomly this past Saturday.

I bought it to the garage on Friday to have an antifreeze leak in oil cooler taken care of. The O ring was shot. One Saturday evening the truck caught on fire and burned up pretty good. The fire started at the battery cable by the starter and ran up into the cab. The battery cables themselves suffered no damage and the batteries are totally fine. The fire never ran towards the battery box.
The fire marshal feels the fire started right at cable along starter. Mind you I have had not one electrical issue with this unit. The fire just starts out of nowhere.

The mechanic at the garage tried to tell me that a buddy of his has a couple of T-8s and the same thing happened to him.

    Im not buying it.
Does anyone know if this tends to really be an issue with the 07 T-8s.

I had a 2001 Classic do that. It shorted out on the wire going to the booster post, rubbed through a loose stand-off. Luckily it happened right when I shut down for the night and still had my window open doing paperwork, when I noticed an orange glow coming from under the truck. Also had a 1980 Ford Fairlane, shorted out the cigar lighter wire in the middle of the night, burned out the interior and snuffed itself out. Fire marshall said it was the 18th one he had seen. So ya, it can happen like that.

They have had this problem since the late 90's. Guy I'm leased to has one that's caught fire twice in the same place. This last time they put heater hose over cables at all supports.
