Has anyone done a shifter extension on a w900? I want to do one but I'm wondering how it will fit because the shifter slaps the seat and I think I might have an issue with the steering wheel. I want to do a 12 inch to bring it up closer to my steering wheel as its too low for comfort from how I sit

Is the shift lever sloppy? It sounds as though the bushings in the tower may be worn. It should not hit the seat unless possibly someone put a wider than factory seat in. You could take the lever off and put a bend in it near the floor to get it away from the seat.

Shifter extension? Funny, I used to cut the shifter's down.
-
lol. I have to stretch down to grab my shifter and I'd rather reach up then down and I can't stand sitting on the floor

Yeah the shift is a little sloppy. The tranny was rebuilt 6 months ago so maybe the bushings in top weren't changed. I know it doesn't pop back to the center so maybe it needs new bushings and maybe springs.
-
Whoever did the tranny should have replaced the springs and taken care of the bushings if they were needed. This day in age too many people don't do quality work. That goes for paper pushers, cops, mechanics and on and on.
Hammer166 Thanks this. -
Yeah I agree. I broke my seat back the other day, drove 6.5 hours with it until I got to hunter Erie in erie pa. Paid for a legacy gold two tone seat. This was at 2. 5 came and they had just got done. Open the door to climb in and leave and noticed it was a legacy silver. Then had to wait for them to change it which took 3.5 hours and they didn't even tighten the seat down all the way

I like my shifter as it came from the factory,,, Now if your really tall and that is why you want to extend it, I get it but, I see these Pete's and KW's all the time where the guy is basically sitting on the floor and his shifter is above his head,,,what is with that?
-
And if that should have been done when they did the tranny it should be covered under the warranty then right?
-
Yeah ive ive seen that a few times. I'm 6 1 and seat with my seat partway up. My arm rest is set to angle up at the steering wheel so the shifter is done from that point. If I extended it with 6 inches I think it would be right below the wheel or 12 inches I think would be right above. Not sure which would be more comfortable but I imagine either way would beat reaching down
