I bought a 2012 KW T-660 Studio in Dec, put it to work in Feb of this year. The motor had a recall on it to replace the ceramic push rods on the rollers, they did the work in Sept of 2014, 3 1/2 months before I bought the truck. The recall warranty is for 4 monthso or 30,000 miles, at the time we put this to work we were already past the 4 month mark, but only have 9600 miles on it since the recall work When the motor blew due to the ceramic dust & particles left in the oil pan. Cummins won't warranty this. Does anyone know what avenues are available to me in order for Cummins to honor their faulty engine?

According to Cummins recall procedures cleaning out the oil pan is not their concern. Who in their right mind don't flush the oil pan when they know that the ceramic dust is going to chew up all the bearings?

They are not likely going to do ANYTHING for the reason you stated " The recall warranty is for 4 monthso or 30,000 miles " they do not care if the truck never turned 1 mile your over on the time portion

4mo/30k warranty or not, I'd be raisin cain on the grounds that the warranty work was done incomplete and improperly.
It likely would end up requiring an attorney, but since this is not an isolated incident (many ISX's were trashed due to this), and the problem could be easily researched by the attorney, you just may have some legal grounds that would over-ride any warranty time limit.

Oh yeah! I found all kinds of cases that Cummins has lost due to this exact same problem. And in each one they site faulty procedures for not dropping the oil pan. The latest case was awarded $285,000.00 plus $175,000.00 for the loss of the load.

plus $175,000.00 for the loss of the load. what the heck were they hauling ?

Having performed this procedure, Cummins doesn't tell us to drop the pan and check for ceramic material unless the material itself has broken. If it was broken then we go through everything that has oil flowing through it to make sure no material has taken out any other components.
But that's ONLY if the plungers were broken at the time of replacement. Otherwise Cummins only pays to R+R the plungers and rollers.BoxCarKidd Thanks this.
