I'm having trouble removing the power distribution box off the firewall of my 99 w900. I can get the plugs out on the top of the box above the fuse panel. These are the colored plugs with rectangular black ring around them. I need to get the box out to work on some corrosion in the bottom of the fuse panel. Anybody have any experience with this?

I've done plenty of these. Even had to go as far as replacing every single pin in one because of corrosion. Open the hood, and remove any air plumbing in front if the fuse box. There should be two plugs on the bottom, remove them as well as the positive cable from the batteries. Unbolt the 12 (IIRC) 10mm bolts that secure the box to the cab. Unscrew the four screws for the aluminum plate that holds in the wires. You won't be able to remove that plate unless you take the box off, so you can't cheat. There should be four clips holding the fuse panel to the box, take a straight pick and slowly go around and undoing the clips. Remove the connectors from the box now and remove the inner cables that connect to the post (9/16") that the battery cable went to on the outside. You should now be able to access every single wire in the back of the fuse panel.
